I have been a Scientologist for 12 years now. I found out about Scientology by reading Dianetic: The Modern Science of Mental Health, and when I started to understand the simplicity of the principles and how it made sense for me, I went down to a Centre (I'm Canadian and we spell it that way, eh). I started reading more books, but was still nervous about getting involved. The people were great, but I was a Christian and wasn't sure about getting to deeply involved. However, after about 10 books and several good conversations I started my first course. I have so many life changing experiences applying Scientology to my life and to this day I feel that I was blessed to find it.
If you are on the fence about checking it out I would suggest getting a book at your local library or buy one at a bookstore or the church itself. To understand Scientology, you need to read it, itself. Not an opinion of it but rather from L. Ron Hubbard himself. That is the horses mouth, the source, and the Founder.
