The eight gang -linked killings in 2011 were the most in a decade the police chief calls the spike very troubling seventeen casings in the street a 14 year old boy lying on the corner of northeast multnomah street and 11th shot in the head and back witnesses outside the Lloyd center mall watch three young men firing toward the cornered men pile into a white Mercedes parked in the Lloyd cinema parking lot and tear out the killing which took place April 18 broad daylight across from a busy shopping mall was one of eight gang related homicides in Portland last year though Portland's over homicide count dropped gang related killings in 2011 were the highest in a decade seven of the eight remain unsolved including the November killing of a 13 year old boy Julio Cesar Marquez whose body was found from in a northeast Portland alley Marquez became the city's youngest gang involved homicide victim in it least a decade last year the city logged 24 homicides down from 29 in 2010 and up from 21 in 2009 which was nearly a 40 year low police solved 48 percent of the killings a low rate that shows the difficulty of cracking gang crimes.The further this getting and as bad as it can get worse it's really a destitute situation where it can get out of hand in alot of different states so it's really important to try to get a handle on things.
