Okay, so there is this cat on a window sill and he is barking away at some unseen enemy. I mean he is barking fast and furious. I'm guessing it has to be to a dog, right? Why else would he choose to speak in barks if it were not a dog? And let me tell you that he is good at it too! I mean, he goes at the whole interspecies bilingual thing as if it were natural. I know what you are thinking. Cats do not bark! But you are wrong. This cat does and it is not some freak anomaly either because when he becomes aware that a human is filming him, the cat quickly clears its throat with a couple of in between "meow-barks" and then proceeds to Meow gently. Even his aggressive stance changes and he appears to be a timid kitty again.
I've known for quite sometime that cats meow for the benefit of humans. Cats do not naturally communicate verbally. Their language is based upon scents and body movement. But this cat definitely convinces me of this fact. Because a cat barking inorder to get a point across to a dog takes the cake as the most obvious proof that cats use their verbal skills for the benefit of the other species they have to interact with.
