We as website owners and bloggers are limited to how much exposure we get and how we get it. If I learned anything in the past 10 years with dabbling in website ownership is that without visitors it makes it all out to be a big waste of time.

Although many con artists out there will tell you they have the sure way to make millions on Google, showing you a million dollar Photoshop edited check in their advertisement banner and for the low price of $50.00 they will show you how to make millions too. Give me a break.

The fact of the matter there is no easy way or shortcut to internet success. I am here to tell you if you do the right research though you can easily get ranked in Google for a search word query within a few weeks for free with using whitehat seo techniques.

But here is the kicker and something website owners should keep in mind. If we try skirting the blackhat street of search engine optimization (seo), you could end up finding our website on the last page of Google in a few years from now. I could not imagine seeing all my hard work go to waste like that.

Google search engine is ever evolving. They envision quality, unique content found at the top of each search word query (keyword). Yes they envision their search engine without spam websites. These websites often use unethical tactics like nasty redirects that popup a window till either you click the affiliate link they are pushing on you or in my case I hit alt + ctrl+ delete to force the browser to close.

If the product is legitimate then there is chance you might purchase it in the future. What the blackhat website accomplishes by forcing you to click that link is an affiliate cookie gets stored on your computer with their member ID. So, if you finally decide to purchase that product a month later the affiliate cookie is still live and active. Once you make the purchase the blackhat site is given x-amount for referring you. So that is why it is a must to keep you internet history cleaned up. Google does not tolerate this type of behavior.

Over time with the right knowledge you can build a successful website that uses ethical whitehat seo techniques. You can learn more about seo optimization here at my website Niche Website Strategy. I recently did an article there about which search engine gets used the most by users. My conclusion based on research other companies have performed is that Google continues to get the majority of use hands down over all of the other search engines put together. Stands to reason we would center our strategy around and with them.

Whitehat seo in a nutshell is using ethical means to promote your website in a search engine. Google Webmaster Central is a one stop shop that is free to use. It allows website owners informational resources to optimize their sites for the most exposure in the search engine.

Free tools like Google Analytics and Google Keyword Tool are tools I use on a daily basis to apply techniques to increase my relevancy and exposure.

It's been a really great transition and I've made some money, increasing my income every month which I think makes it worth it. I had no idea this area of the internet existed so it's been a huge learning curve.

I wish the other SEs had more services available. It's amazing how Google just dominates.

SEO really start at the publishing level. I seen and browsed many websites that do not even bother doing any sort or article management to increase their exposure to search engines. How are search engines supposed to list a website if you do not provide the search engine bot with the right information to index said website?

Think about every article you created and published in the last few years. Now would you believe me if I told you by taking just 5 minutes more on each article you published you can harness search engines algorithms to drive more traffic to your website?

Some top WhiteHat SEO techniques that I found to work...

Crafting keyword rich titles, tags, excerpts and descriptions.

When picking out your niche website center on one niche. For example my website I listed in the above article is about SEO. If I would try to cover other niches it would reduce my relevancy in the eyes of Google. So staying on topic is important.

Keyword use in the url also helps drive your listing. Have you ever seen date based url's that can't be remembered easily? Having your keyword in the url will help Google determine what the article is about. Plus it will help your visitors fetch an article they really like by recalling the easy to remember url.

I think all of these things build on a better search engine. Meaning if you can be transparent and straight forward to search engines then, they will reward you.

Initial exposure of your website starts when you fill out the meta data of your website. Meta data can be easily seen by right click in the browser and clicking
page information in the drop down menu.

Meta data is one of the first things the Google bot scans so having keyword rich meta data is very important when it comes to getting that initial exposure in search engines.
