There are several distinct marks and characteristics of real men that make them stand out from the crowd.
I'm not talking about Rambo or John Wayne type of "man" either. I'm talking about a masculinity based on faith and strength of character and not flesh.
Having male anatomy does not make one a man. It only makes him male.
Here are just a few characteristics:
A Real Man rejects passivity - In other words a Real Man is not a "wuss." He is not afraid to stand up for what is right even when there is opposition.
A Real Man accepts responsibility - The buck starts and stops with him. He knows he is responsible for his own thoughts, words, actions and deeds. He also accepts responsibility for the impact he will have on those around him.
A Real Man leads courageously - There is no fear in him. Like the Hebrew Joshua, He knows who has his back and he is willing to do what it takes to be successful in any area where God calls him.
A Real Man expects the greater reward - The Blessing manifests in his life. All he puts his hand to prospers. He lacks no good thing.
A Real Man is honest - If your word is no good, you are no good. He does what he says and says what he does.
A Real Man is secure - He knows Who he belongs to. No person outside of himself can shake his confidence. He sucks up to no one.
A Real Man works hard - Success only comes through commitment. Weak commitments have weak results. No place for a Real Man.
A Real Man forgives - no sappy sentimentality or phoniness, but real forgiveness from the heart. His fellowship with his Maker and others is unhindered and he sleeps well at night.
A Real Man is a warrior - he fights. He is brave and fearless in spite of obstacles, hindrances, and satanic opposition. He knows he has the victory before he begins.
How do we measure up?
None of us has totally arrived. Hopefully we all are on the path.
