Finally people are asking the right question. What our government does determines how we as a people are judged.
We are told that we all need to sacrifice to get us through this fiscal crisis, but those that are well off do not sacrifice. The new Republican budget plan kills Medicare and asks the old and infirm to pay $6,000 more so the rich can have their taxes lowered from 35% to 24%.
Is that who we are as a people? Why are there no cuts to the military budget which has increased 150% since 2001, and which the military even admits is dripping in waste and laden with un-needed programs to fight non existent enemies. Yet school funding is cut 25% and the WIC program to help starving babies is slashed.
The polluting fossil fuel industries Are making record profits, and yet their hundreds of billions of corporate welfare are untouched while renewable energy programs are slashed 70%.
Is that what we the American people want? NO! Between 65% and 81% of the American People in polls think the rich should be taxed more not less.
About two thirds of the people don't want their Medicare destroyed and would rather have the military budget cut.
We are a Christian Nation and we care for those in need. Most people in this country think that there should be a safety net to catch the vulnerable, because we were taught by Jesus that: "Whatever you neglected to do unto one of the least of these, you neglected to do unto Me!"
