We Were Not Created to Fail

"For the first time in history our children will not be better off than we"

Believe it or not, that is a quoted response from one of the Rants/Raves posted here.

Any thinking person has to realize that that is one of the most pessimistic outlooks one can ever adhere to. I'm sure glad not everyone feels that way.

Our words are extremely important. With them we can minister blessing or cursing, life or death. We can build our lives and our future or destroy it. The choice is ours.

We should have every confidence that our children will be better off than we are. If we don't, we automatically set them up for failure. Each and every day we are to be building a legacy for our kids and our kid's kids ad-infinutum. If we are not specifically and intentionally doing that, then all we are doing is taking up space and resources that could better be used by someone else with a vision.

We need to be fully functioning human being to bring our best to any task at hand. Spiritually, physically, financially, socially - we need to hit on all cylinders.

In this country there is no need for our kids not to get a good education. The system is flawed but it is workable if we work it. We need to encourage our children to be studious and take their education seriously. Parents need to raise their kids and not turn them over to the state like so many have without even realizing it.

Mothers and fathers need to spend much time with their kids raising them and educating them on the important things in life. It's not going to happen on its own. We must be proactive. In that way we are programming them for success.

I know my kids are going to be successful. There's no doubt in my mind about it. They have been set up to be victory going somewhere to happen. They are blessed and when they come on the scene others are blessed by them. We should work that into all of our young people. That will change the world.

Right or Left, Capitalist or Socialist. None of that ultimately matters. Anyone who thinks man's politics are going to usher in utopia is delusional to the max. That's farfetched off the charts.

Children live what they learn. If we teach them to be pessimistic and negative, that is what they will live out. If they come from a perspective of understanding the Blessing there is nothing this world can throw at them that will ultimately discourage and destroy them.

Neither this economic system nor any other can keep a winner down. It's all a matter of perspective and persistence. If we don't have a clue as to our purpose and our source of supply, then it's very easy to get dragged down into the negativity of this fallen world.

Our young people need role models and there are still plenty of positive ones out there. You just have to know where to look.

The first role models, of course, should be the parents. The parents are the first line in seeing to it that world doesn't mess over the kids.

From promiscuity, to criminal activity, to perversion, to shiftlessness and depression, the enemies are out there. It is up to parents to model the discipline, work ethic, morality and integrity that we expect the young people to emulate and that will contribute to making them prosperous and blessed. We continue to work it from there.

Some expect all sports icons and celebrities to be role models. That's too much to expect. They should be moral and responsible, but many simply are not. So let's be realistic. WE are the role models.

Don't just buy any sports jersey for your kids either. Be more discerning than that. I buy sports jerseys for my kids, but they are usually retro. Do yourself a favor and if you buy them, buy the ones by folks that have proved themselves on and off the field/court. Folks that show tremendous ability in their sport, their lives and their philanthropy. Refuse to buy just any old jersey because of popularity. That's just dumb and sends a wrong message.

We truly have a lot to be thankful for and praise our Maker for. It's unfortunate that some just don't see it and want to try and rain on another's parade. That's too bad. Too bad for them.

We need to reflect on how truly fortunate and blessed we are. We need to inspire ourselves.

When things are tough we don't need to throw up our hands and give up. No.
We simply need to commit to strive that much harder, in spite of the difficulties, for a better tomorrow for our families and for anyone else we can bring along.

"the kids of today are already suffering because of educational cutbacks that are making higher education harder for all but the rich. They will not be able to get the good jobs and pull themselves up by their bootstraps like we did. The American dream is dead…"

Contrary to the opinion of some, the American Dream is NOT dead.

There will be jobs and there will be opportunity. We have 9% unemployment and that is pretty significant. There are other countries that have it far, far worse however. We need to continue to look on the bright side and continue do our part to make a better day. No room for whiners and complainers.

This is still a wonderful world and we all can have a wonderful life and a wonderful future. Will it be easy? No. Will it take hard work? Yes. Is it possible? You better believe it is.

We must persist until the Promise is manifested. And of course, we must not give undue attention to the negative folks, the haters, and the naysayers. All they will do is attempt to discourage and drag us down into their own personal hell. A hell which oft times is of their own making by their own words, attitudes and actions.

Complaining changes nothing. It's our actions and reactions that count. If you don't like the effect, don't produce the cause.

We are to rule over our circumstances not the other way around. It's all under our feet when we know who we are, why we are here, and where we come from.
Thank you for reading.

Lyrics - If You Don't Like the Effects Don't Produce the Cause
UPDATE - 21 months ago
If you have not already, you really need to check out the videos by Nido Qubein and Les Brown.

Nido came to this country with nothing. He learned the language and he is now quite financially successful.

Is he more gifted, talented or "lucky" than any one of us? No.

What Nido has is an unwavering commitment to being successful. He is a self-starter that no one need compel or urge to work hard and stay committed.

What about Les Brown? Les was told early in life that he was educable mentally retarded. He was told hat he would never accomplish anything of significance. He believed that and was heading off to fulfill that prophesy until someone along the way told him that failure was not his lot in life. That there was no subject that another person could teach that he could not learn. From that point Les' life changed from being destined to be a loser to one of entrepreneurship and being tagged as one of the greatest motivational speakers ever.

Our perception of yourself has a lot to do with whether we will be successful or not. If one does not expect much from themselves, there is no wonder results will be lacking. When one knows that they are created for greatness and that no enemy can stand in their way for long.

The giants must fall.

21 months ago: I like the post and the picture enforcing it! Some young guy told me yesterday that he was sorry that he didn't make our meeting, but that he really wanted to be there. I said be a man and don't lie to me... IF you wanted to be there or anywhere, nothing could stop you. I didn't think our meeting was that important, however the principle was. He got it. It is the same with success, Ali is standing because he wanted it more !:]

Didn't he knock Liston out in the first round.

I used to love watching boxing. May check out the Mayweather fight this weekend with my brother-in-law.

We all need motivation. Life has a way of trying to punch us out. But that's okay though. We will never get knocked out when we truly understand who we are, Whose side we are on, and what we have been given the capability to do in Christ.

It sure seemed like an effortless punch by Ali... I guess when you hit the "button" out go the lights!
21 months ago: Contrary to popular belief Jesus was not poor.

It is not His will that His followers be poor either. Jesus does have a problem however when things become more important to individuals than than following Him. (Mt 19:20, 22-23; Lk 18:18). That He does not tolerate.

There is no disdain for personal wealth. Who here does not want their children to be well off? The problem is with selfishness. If folks on this planet would share their blessings, it would be a different place.
21 months ago: Huey,

Jesus also wasn't rich by any imagination, nor his followers... here is a little insight to the financial status of Jesus' followers after His ascension...

"But Peter said, "I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!" (Acts 3:6)

...I don't think they were lying or being philosophical. I see the followers of Christ at times being in want and having abundance...

"I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need." (Philippians 4:12)

King's X Complain Lyrics

Send "Complain" Ringtone to your Cell

COMPLAIN - King's X
Lyrics

Ozone disapperaing in the sky
Bud man asking us why ask why
If I could find my magazine this bug would die
I complain

China boy standing up to a tank
Southern boy living in the house of yanks
If I can't seem to get my motorbike to crank
I complain

Complain so much easier
Small kid begging for a crumb of bread
Next kid bloated lying nearly dead
I wonder what to take for my aching head
I complain

Lots of people crying for a little rain
Whole nation learning how to live with pain
I don't know how I'm gonna clean this little stain
I complain.

Complain so much easier
Black man singing Mississippi blues
Africa starves a little baby drools
I'm trying to figure out all the basketball rules
I complain

Mr. Rush Limbaugh giving me the facts
Treetops falling and the newsman yaks
I'm thinking about Carter and how I'm gonna be
Taxed

Hey

Complain so much easier..

Everyone should participate in one continuous poem or lyrics.
Make it continue and continue on while it is added to each day. People can write over and over again.

This kind of stuff is important, isn't it?

21 months ago: Of course I follow everything you guys say.
The way I think we have to protect what we own, what's ours.
America deserves our children to be better off than we are. That is what we do as we move forward in life to protect those that will carry on. All children are important to me. Each one deserves a chance to live out their lives with what our Country has offered to us when things were going well.
The whole picture is to make the kids learned and become aware of everything we have gained and then to grow from there. Most of all. Something has to be done to give them a fighting chance. We have to give them the tools. If not, the way this Government is treating people without value, this is what they will know.
I agree Jesus could never be poor. Us as citizens may have become poor of place but not in spirit. They can't kill that. Good lyrics. I don't think I could ever be unhappy no matter what I go through. I would like to see another lyric written with a positive spin on it.

21 months ago: Huey you wrote a great piece , and I agree with you.
I have seen kids that are cheated because of physical disabilities being left out both socially and in the education system.
Kids that are treated cruely by their peers fall into the background and become deprived of their education because they aren't allowed to fit in. You see what the bullies have done.
Not all children have the parents like us who give chances to their children so that they do better.
Many are born into poverty with no way out. They don't even have the slightest of chances. Not all parents are the best mentors. Many children come from broken homes. I'm talking about these kids that will look up to a role model as a hero and will be inspired to get out of their trap.

I don't know why others don't jump in. You see right there it shows lack of concern. Any parent would be interested in adding their thoughts.

21 months ago: If the country does not go into an upswing soon, chances and opportunity that this Country offered to all that entered her corridors won't exist.
You see it taking its toll on so many out there.
It is up to us as parents, not only to be good role models, but we have to stand up and fight to preserve our rights and keep the values in Government so that our kids can have the opportunities that we have. Government has taken away a lot and that can't be denied. Many people aren't able to attend colleges any more because of costs. The grants are becoming harder to get. In my State alone they cut way back and are giving nothing to those who aren't so fortunate.
21 months ago: I think a lot of parents are filled with doubt these days and that trickles down to the kids.

The suicide rate amongst young people has skyrocketed exponentially in the last few decades. Why is that?

It is because their faith has been stripped away and they no longer feel they have any hope. "What difference does it make" they now feel. "We all all just evolved pond scum so why bother?" That's the new religion. That is what is being shoved down their throats by mandate. That is tragic.

This culture is sick and it gets sicker every day. The value of human life has literally been flushed down the toilet. Many feel if life is painful so they may as well end it. Survival of the fittest right? Many feel they are supposed to die.

Secular humanism is killing the kids. It is up to the parents to wake up and instill some value back into their children. Children should not raise them selves nor should they be turned over to the government or municipal education system.

It starts with us.

21 months ago: Huey....I see I understand.
It does start with the parents.
Some of the headlines this morning are proof that something has to be done.
You have good and bad in everything.
21 months ago: I speak to kids (17-24 yr old) in prison on a regular basis. They are there for a variety of reasons.

What has been missing in their lives however are some basic absolutes. Some of them have serious problems with discerning what right and wrong is. Why is that? The culture and the parents.

The American culture becomes more and more secular everyday. The Founders would be spinning in their graves if they had any idea of what goes on these days.

There are certain foundational truths that the young people are not being taught because there is an agenda to control their thinking by the government and the multinational corporations. They want to tell all of us what we need to be happy, what we should buy and what we should think.

"Science" is being replaced by a religion of evolution and abiogenesis that teaches that nothing became something, exploded and now we have everything. No hope in that scenario.

Everything is meaningless and the universe will eventually die. Why wait for it? Eat, party, abuse each other, engage in perversion for tomorrow we die?

Not exactly an optimistic outlook is it?

I hank God that there are plenty of people out there that know all of that is a bill of goods. There are plenty of folks out there that simply will not sit idly by and allow our progeny to go to hell.

Our sphere of influence must be protected from the godless secularism and hopelessness that has invaded the minds and heart of many.

We are blessed to be a blessing and we were not created to fail.

21 months ago: I love that phrase:
NOT CREATED TO FAIL Taking the time to help those kids is a rarity. You see that is what I am speaking of. They don't have anyone to make them see the difference, but you bring it to them. They need people in their corner and that starts with the parents. They need that affection that a parent would give a child naturally without judging. I know young people who said that their parent's relationship with them was only biological. Something is missing and lacking from the parents for them to feel that way. They need that support before anything. Family values are being sacrificed. I hope it isn't the wave of the future. I have great faith it will change for the better.
It is terrible when the young ones fall by the wayside and no one is there to pick them up.
Some religions preach to doomes day and apocalypse which makes the children dependent on them and scared. Parents strictly enforce it pushing their beliefs on the kids. That's unfair.
We can't resolve the problems of the world, but we can put a dent in it by caring.

That video is cool. I never saw that fight, and I hardly saw that punch fly.
I didn't see the Floyd Paterson fight. I listened to it. I did see Joe Frazier and George Foreman fight Ali when it was televised.
I actually saw him on the street in NYC.
He is one smart dude. Someone I know got to meet him at his training camp, and they said he is sharp as a tack.
The closest I ever came to a Champion fight is when I saw this one guy train. I forgot his name. I got to pass by another Champion in Caesars years ago. I always wanted to see that fight. Thanks, Huey.

"May check out the Mayweather fight this weekend with my brother-in-law."
So cool.
