Finally An Alternative!

By now most of you are probably tired of our dysfunctional government. In the last three elections we threw the bums out, but the people we put in seems to be worse than the folk we kicked out. Why aren't the politicians doing what the people want?

People are dissatisfied with Obama yet the opposition looks even worse. Why isn't there a third party that represents the center, the hard working people who have to raise their families and pay the bills?

Well finally there may be hope in sight. Now there is the possibility of a third presidential candidate that is not elected by the two major political parties. This candidate wouldn't be beholden to special interests, and would represent the vast majority of Americans. This candidate will elected by the people in an internet convention.

Thomas Friedman has written a good article about the new movement: http://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/201...

If you go to the website you can register as a delegate and answer some questions about what your priorities are and how you would govern and you can compare your views with the views of the average American. http://www.americanselect.org/

Later on the site will allow you the public to shape the debate and decide what questions the candidates will answer. You will be able to find and select the candidates that agree with your views and you will be able to vote on the best candidate. Best of all This winning candidate will be on the official presidential ballot in all 50 states.

Finally we will have an alternative to politics as usual!

~~This term would imply that the people labeled with it have actually ever read the Constitution, which I honestly don't think has ever happened. Michelle Bachman got schooled by an 11 year old on Constitutional facts and then was too afraid to face her in a Constitutional challenge...Sarah Palin, I'm not even sure she can read at all...
10 months ago: What about "your boy"? You think he has a grasp on the Constitution?

Now it is 47% unfavorable and 33% favorable. After they throw the country into another depression I doubt if you will be able to find anyone that is willing to admit to being a tea partier with disapproval ratings in the 90% range. http://www.gallup.com/poll/147308/Negati...

They had to cancel their Freedom Jamboree in July. I guess they couldn't find enough people who thought they had lost their freedom.

10 months ago: IN Canada we have a multi-party system that at times gives us minority gov's... however it seems that some can enter the race just to split the vote and cause a majority for someone the majority never even voted for...

The only way to have a proper balance and reflection of the popular vote is RECALL! IF an elected candidate does not follow through with platforms that got them elected they and/or their policies can be revoked and RECALLED...

The Mormon Church was able to get Prop. 8 in California passed through propaganda and a bunch of money. This law which took took many rights away from gay people has been proven to be unconstitutional.

I would feel much better if all electoral processes would restrict outside influence and money. Signature takers who are volunteers get much better results than paid signature takers.

Another problem with initiatives and with Democracy in general is that of education. Democracy only works if the electorate is aware of all of the facts. That is why I like this computer system of selecting candidates. Anyone who votes has to read about issues and where the candidates stand on them.

Thomas Jefferson (1820)
"I know of no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but inform their discretion."

James Madison (1788)
"A popular government without popular information or the means of acquiring it is but a prologue to Farce or Tragedy or perhaps both. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance, and a people who mean to be their own Governors must arm themselves with the power knowledge gives."
