Names/descriptions of God.
Adonai: Lord, master, owner.
Elohim: Creator.
El Shaddai: The all sufficient one.
El Roi: The God who sees.
Jehovah Raah: The Lord is our shepherd.
Jehovah Rapha: The Lord is our healer.
When a Biblical writer "names" God, he is describing an aspect or trait that God wants us to know and understand. Our refined perception of God who He "is" through this definition can dramatically influence our direction. In our passage today, the Lord answered, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting." We all know how that change in perspective completely altered Saul/Paul's direction in life.
We do not always see the opportunities to please God, I believe that dear Job experienced all of those undeserved trials only to be an example for us, His wife and his friends told him to curse God, but he did not, Job said "even if He slays me still will I trust Him" We just don't get it, when I preached in the prison, I told them, after you have received the Spirit of Christ, read the Word to make your soul connect to the Spirit and release the flesh, when you are tempted, recognize that it is an opportunity to please God and go to a higher level.
Say "NO" to the flesh, say to it heal, down boy, the Bible says, "A kind word can break a bone" if for some reason your wife is mad at you, kindly say, sweet heart, I like you much more when you are smiling.
I can guarantee that Jesus will be smiling at you, He is everywhere, that is what makes Him God, is that He deals personally with all of us. This blows my mind!
