First thing is first. I am an employee for over Ten Years. Don't let that fool you, because they care absolutely Nothing for me, and would fire me at any chance without blinking an eye. Its not just me. It is the fact that they have minimal interest in their technicians. Why? Good question. We are always told by the corporate "people" that techs are the root of the company and greatly appreciated, yeh....ok. The corporate Machine of Firestone RULES by Threats and Fear. As a tech... you are replaceable at any time. ANYBODY can change oil and change a tire!!! They know that, so they exploit it?. It doesnt matter that you have several certifications and credentials as an automotive technician;. This company does not care about that;. If you have a PULSE and can pass a drug test, you will be hired as a Technician/. It cheapens the title of technician because so many customers have bad experiences with these Grossly unqualified "technicians", it hurts the real Techs?. Let me tell you how it "works" at Firestone:.
Its ALL about the Almighty Oil Change". Firestone knows that Joe Customer would never bring his car in for repair, But lure him in with a very inexpensive, or FREE oil change and he will come. Then.... with Firestone's "12 step process" Joe Customer will be handed a very neat and orderly sheet of "recommendations" for repair on his car. Now he is faced with "needing" over a thousand dollars of repair, for doing nothing more than bringing his car in for a cheap oil change. Firestone wants 400.00 for every car that enters the door!!! Yes, they do. To add insult to injury.. someone who was selling shoes yesterday, could be "servicing" your car today. Believe that.
What happens to your old rotors and car parts at Firestone? Here's the answer. It is ALL dumped in our landfills as garbage. This COMPLETELY recyclable product is trashed. Millions of pounds of steel and metal nationwide yearly. Way to be GREEN Firestone. Although there is no written official policy about disposal of waste metal at Firestone... any employee caught recycling it will be fired on the spot. Shame on you Firestone.
After over ten years of employment I will be leaving soon. You have taken my life and squashed it. You have cost me my social life by your extreme mandatory shift hours of 11 to 12 a day and EVERY SINGLE *** SATURDAY. You have broken my spirit. You have embarrassed me. You have infuriated me.
Customers... this company do not mean well, but in the end, it's all about the company. DEMAND QUALIFIED TECHS to service your car! Demand PROOF of their qualifications. Firestone will hire 9 and 10 dollar an hour techs ALL day, even though the labor rate is well over 90 dollars per hour that you pay for service.
When they ask you if you want a FREE COURTESY CHECK..... Say *** ***** NO!! Word of advice. Unless you want to be given a HUGE list of "recommendations" costing upwards of thousands!! If the Techs don't recommend anything on your car, then Corporate says we are doing a bad inspection and we are reprimanded.oh yea they don,t promote there black employee,s,i work with a manager that call black employee nigger
