Free Dockers pants, irritating animals, and delicious, smooth Bud Light. Yes, I’m talking about the 2010 Super Bowl commercials.

Congratulations are due to the Saints, of course, but once again, the real winners are the Super Bowl commercials. 2010 will be remembered as a year that Coke, Doritos and Budweiser prevailed. There were some wicked movie previews – Robin Hood, anybody? – but the people I was watching with seemed to like the Clydesdales, the Lost parody, and “casual Friday” commercials. The Super Bowl is getting more and more about corporate sponsorship than actual sport, but who cares?

The YouTube video on the left says it has the “top 10 Super Bowl commercials,” but I don’t agree. Instead, the MSNBC link has a nice list – they rate the Doritos baby commercial as number 1, then Snicker’s “Betty White,” and the Doritos “dog shock collar.” It’s a pretty good site – you can watch the “green police” Super Bowl commercial and top super bowl commercials, which are ranked by users.

As for me, I thought the top Super Bowl commercials were Budweiser’s house of Bud Light because that would make a wonderful place to live, the “Asteroid” commercial, and the movie trailers, because I love movies. Seriously, the “Shutter Island” movie looks like the right mix of creepy and drama.

I really dislike talking babies and animals, so I thought all the Etrade ads were garbage, and I think GoDaddy.com’s marketing department needs to go back to the drawing board. Seriously, your G-rated, poorly acted crap isn’t edgy or titillating. It’s just sad. Finally, I thought that the Tim Tebow pro-life Super Bowl commercial was bad: after a month of controversy, the actual commercial was timid and vague – and why did the football player tackle his mom?

Check out the top ten Super Bowl commercials of 2010 at the link to MSNBC on the left. Which do you think were funny? Which just made you swear to never support a specific company? Which do you think are the top Super Bowl commercials of all time?

I haven't thought that one all the way through yet.

24 months ago: Yeah, the best of the night was the Doritos baby commercial and Doritos definitely won for best overall effort.
24 months ago: Me and my friends almost wet ourselves with that one commercial about the guy in the unemployment line.
You know, the one where he's only seen from the back and finally he gets to the front of the line and he has to hand in his application with references and a brief resume of jobs he's held and for which he might be qualified.
Then when he slaps it down and it says at the top POTUS and then it pans up and he's, um, what's his face...you know that guy that danced with Ellen on her show...oh, c'mon help me out here...

That would be a very brief resume indeed.
24 months ago: Yeah, that was him...thanks, bro.

But the commercial I did really enjoy the most was the "Green Police..."

"You said the wrong word today plastic boy..."
