The New York Jets Top Houston Texans 30-27 In Meadowlands
Coach Rex Ryan prior to today's game urged Jet fans to be at their seats and ready for action before the introductions. That set the stage for what was another tremendous albeit not so pretty win for the New York Jets.
The Jets snatched victory from defeat. These days these games are not for the faint of heart. A loss to Green Bay coming off the bye week, an overtime win against the Lions and then another OT win against Cleveland.
The Jets are now 8 and 2. That is the second best 10th game record in franchise history.
Game prep continued up to last night. Coach Ryan secured the mixed martial arts fighter and lightweight champion Frankie Edgar to deliver a motivational speech on mental toughness and not giving up when it looks bad.
The Jets were their own worst enemy when they allowed a dormant Houston team to erupt for 20 unanswered points and 181 yards in the fourth quarter.
The Jets' offense, with 55 seconds and no timeouts left, began what appeared to be a fool's errand, a 72-yard drive to a game-winning touchdown that would rescue the game.
Two quick completions to Ladamian Tomlinson, a huge pass to Breland Edwards and pass to Santonio Holmes in the end zone sealed the deal scoring the winning touchdown with 16 seconds left.
Talk about relieved.
That's 8-2 as in the second-best 10th-game record in franchise history. Did I say that already?
It had its ugly moments, but as the saying goes, a win is a win.
At the post-game Press Conference, Coach had this to say:
"I want to apologize to all the Jets fans for affecting the heart a little bit. ... But we're 8-2 and we'll get it fixed. I'll take it. ... If I have to apologize every week from here on out, I will, right on to the Super Bowl."
I can get to that.
