As I write this I assure you that I am salivating. I am not going to start off by saying the usual comment that "this phone could be the iphone killer" because I think the world of smart phones is beyond that now. You choose your smart phone based on your personal preference. They all do something different, and they all have a feature that the other one does not have.
The Android mobile operating system has proven itself to be reliable and user friendly. While it's application catalog of a mere 30,000 choices does not yet match Apple's, it is certainly gaining strength. And let's face it, all of the really, really important apps are there.
But what about the phone? The HTC EVO will be the first of it's kind in that it will be capable of working on both Sprint 4G and 3G networks. So in a word, this phone will be fast. It is important to note however, that while Sprint's 3G coverage is good and fast, it is still in the process of rolling out it's 4G coverage. Right now they are only advertising 4G networks in about 30 cities with another 8 or so slated to get coverage in the near future.
Besides its network capabilities the HTC EVO has wifi, and an 8 mgp camera on the back along with a 1.3 mgp camera mounted on the front. I imagine that camera will be used for video conferencing, and possibly with google talk. That's how fast both 4G and this phone will be as the EVO is also sporting a 1 ghz SnapDragon processor.
This should be an awesome phone and I will start giving out more information as I get it. If you are a technology junkie like me, this is an exciting time!
