Comedian Louis CK talks about how good it is to be a white man. Very funny, very true, very sad. Although this is likely a very popular opinion among whites, rarely is it discussed in such a public way. Check it out.

Gregoire, the point is, every day you wake up and you *don't* have to think about who's going to insult you for the color of your skin, how you're going to convince your boss to give you a raise comparable to that of your white co-workers, or whether or not you'll be pulled over for driving while black.
It's hard for people with built-in societal advantages to see those advantages, because they don't suffer the lack thereof.

Noni, the point is, every day you go to work and can be fired. Why **** about it? Why make it political (meaning racial) in you mind? What would it take for you to believe your wrong? Maybe the fact that you can't find a single lawyer in months that will take your case? Not even the ACLU? That might be a clue that your the racist with your beliefs. Are you profiling? Driving while black? Man you take the cake.

TCG, you never, ever bring actual facts to these arguments. Not once. I continuously point out statistics that ought to sicken you - black people earn about 75 cents for every dollar white people in the same jobs earn, one third of our male prison population is black, and yes, black drivers are pulled over and searched disproportionately.
These are facts. They aren't in dispute. It's a real problem. Yet you come in here time and time and time again, pretending that the firings and wages are never over skin color, the disproportionate prison population is never over skin color, and so forth. You're wrong.
Amazingly, you have no trouble pointing out the black racists, like Louis Farrakhan. You know why you have no trouble pointing them out? Because *they* target *you*. When you're on the receiving end of racism by a specific individual, it's easy to see. But you come in here, without any facts to back you up, and claim that all the institutionalized racial problems we still have in this country are illusory.
I must say, I find it very frustrating.

How in the world do you know this is likely a very popular opinion among whites?
Does that mean as a black person, that is your opinion?

@The Cypress Gang: No disrespect, but like many people, I have paid for private insurance to cover monthly expenses should I ever be out on medical leave. I can't get that income because my job refuses to provide the number of days that I was given sick/continuation leave on the Employer's Statement to the insurance company. The first response indicated that I received zero days. The 2nd response had a date in the field which I guess was supposed to represent the start date of the sick/continuation leave when I had recieved both types.
Bottom line, my claim was denied because my job refused to provide the insurance company with the correct info and the reason they refused to provide the correct info on the paid leave that I received is because that info proves that I was dropped from payroll on April 2, 2009 as a retaliatory move.
If my version of events existed solely "inside my head", then I would have already been in receipt of my private monthly insurance benefits. Instead, these acts constitute the more in a long term campaignt of ongoing retaliaroty harassment as I have alleged all along.
What I will say is that if I were not telling the truth and did not have additional proof, I would have been front page mainstream media news for a while now. I was compared to Karen Silkwood by a lawyer who refused to take my case. She was killed right before she was to hand over the dirt on the company she worked for. This is New York to Fed gov't at its worst.
@HeyNoniNoni: Thank you for speaking truth.
@Gregoire: I truly appreciate you sarcasm and wit even if we disagree (and we obviously do on this issue).
@all: please share with others.

So, I'm confused. In your previous posts, you informed of your role as whistle blower on company corruption, for which there was corporate retaliation. How has that evolved into a black vs. white thing? Is that one just easier? Could it be possible that this is simply corporate shenanigans, and race is not even an issue here?

I suggest you and your attorney contact the F.B.I. and ask for witness protection. If what you have is that strong you are most likely on a hit list already. Forget the State AG. Go for Federal Civil Rights Conspiracy. That is easier to prove. All you need is two or more that knew what was going on and did not walk away. I know because I sat on a sequestered jury in a Federal Civil Rights case about 32 years ago. It involved white cops in Houston. We sent they away. So, see you guys. I'm not a racist.

I did, again,
"between 1994 and present day I have been identified and retaliated against as a whistle blower and that the basis of that harassment is racial because I was played into this position."
It doesn't follow.

@Out of The Box: This is the 2nd paragraph of the rant.
"My plight began in 1994 and has everything to do with the fact that I am a black woman as well as my affiliation with the David Dinkins administration. HRA’s Management Information Systems is, and has always been a bastion of white privilege and entitlement in the historically and predominantly white and male computer industry. In a series of firsts, 1990 brought New York City’s first black mayor, first black female commissioner of HRA, the first black head of MIS, and myself as the first black female IT liaison to any commissioner. A rising star up to that point, my career was effectively over after Dinkins and his appointees stepped down in 1993. I was subsequently given the position of Director of MIS Inventory Systems in 1994. Just a few months later, after reporting massive problems with the inventory and making recommendations to correct same via my own internal audit and analysis, MIS management stripped me of the position. I developed an inventory tracking system that was never used. I filed an internal EEO complaint and was thereafter blackballed while MIS management misrepresented the true status of the agency’s multimillion dollar inventory on each audit since 1996."

So you are saying that if you had been a white whistle-blower that exposed fraud in a large organization, things would have turned out better for you? I'm honestly trying to understand here.

Personally I hate being so very pale white. We get get wrinkles easier and skin cancer etc.
We just gotta get past race, the more we emphasize it the more power we give it. I admit everyday I get up and plot how to oppress another person of another race....my husband. But I keep telling him he needs to respect my culture he keeps telling me he has a right to closet space.
But in all seriousness I do have a bit more perspective on being a racial minority. I am one here, even tho the people here are absolutely wonderful I do get edgy because I know I am different, it feels odd. I cannot explain it. But I can kinda understand that even if something happens to you that is not racially motivated, it still might feel like it is. Again I cannot really explain it, and it is not truly the same but I am more sympathetic to the feeling.
On a different note - here in the Philippines there is whitening creams. Really, they are very popular and just cannot be good for the skin. (and this is just my personal feeling) I cannot see why anyone would want to trade their beautiful golden or brown color for fishbelly white.

In another note - I have had friends that were treated unfairly because of race. Also I have had a lot of issues because of sexism. But we can't give up, just always expose it when it happens. But don't think all people are racists.
I really can't stand the constant focus on race, we have to pull together as Americans and our identity as Americans has to be more important.
I am also real homesick lately. Whenever I see someone of African descent I always think, hey that person might be an American, maybe I can talk to someone from home! But many times they are from Africa...and I am dissappointed. Same tho with white people many are from Europe and Austraila. Culture is so much more identifing than color, but I am rambling...sry to hear of your struggles...don't give up the fight.
