Beauty is in the eye of the... needle?

They say a picture is worth a thousand words... what is an ugly picture worth? I was watching a "before and after" YouTube video on the effects of drugs, and though they are hard to look at, it isn't hard to see what the effects are. When our nations are considering legalizing drugs... it should cover the sports too... and beauty pageants! Heck, we might even get the first prize for the ugliest nations on the planet !:]

This whole legalizing drugs thing, is soooo near-sighted, it would behoove someone to take a second look. DO you want your children to exchange their God-given beauty for these "make-overs"? Consider the next time you hear someone shoot their face off about it... and stand clear, you might get it on you !:]

But on an obvious note, some of the most beautiful children only start with cigarettes and alcohol... and soon move to the gateway drug marijuana. Legalize this gateway drug, and you have just condoned the gateway to annihilation of the next generation.

"A nation of drug addicts...
It turned out that 60% of these schoolchildren were either on drugs at that very moment, or had been on such drugs within the last twelve months. Two-thirds of the teachers were on drugs, too. And it's not at all a stretch to believe that 40% or more of all parents are on drugs. Mild-altering drugs like antidepressants, no less."

Thieves, drunkards, beggars, prostitutes—if Jesus touched them, why don't we?"

What we have been doing for the last 50 years has not worked. We are loosing the war on drugs. We need to address the problem in a new and different way. There has to be a program that does several things at once.

1. Interdict all drugs coming into the country and arrest and prosecute all illegal drug runners and suppliers.

2. take the confiscated drugs and provide them to addicts free if they agree to a drug program to get them off the drug. This will use the free market system to cut the legs off the drug lords by eliminating the profit.

3. Use psychology, education and photos and videos like you have provided to discourage kids from starting to use. Most addicts have reasons, attack the problem at the root causes, eliminate the source of the dispair. Give them meaningful jobs and keep them busy.

4. Instead of just throwing the addicts in prison, get them into treatment. Wean them off. http://health.usnews.com/usnews/health/a...

Something like 85% of property crimes are drug related (addicts trying to steal something they can hock to get a fix) If they could get it free they wouldn't have to steal.

That would do it.
8 months ago: Al,

1) Doctors (that are drug pushers) should be prosecuted
2) Provide free razor blades to junkies, so they can commit a more efficient suicide (because that is what your "confiscated drugs" are doing... only slower)
3) Give them (youth) meaningful jobs picking up needles your program hands out
4) Keep addicts in prison (if they committed other crimes to get a fix) and throw politicians, drug suppliers, and Blogging-Heart-Liberals in with them to see the real effects drugs have on the soul of a human!
8 months ago: These kids pictures come from countries where drugs are legal and drug addiction is considered a medical/psychological problem rather than a crime, right?
8 months ago: Stan,

I think I know where you are going with this... So let me ask a few questions... has legalizing alcohol reduced the accidents caused by it, or the children born with FAS, or families abused by it, or the lessen the addiction to it, or even make people better looking??????? Because if you think that legalizing drugs are going to make junkies better looking... you are on drugs!

That would take money. Once addicted I can see how difficult it would be to get back to normal health. What would lead us to be a nation of drug addicts? There is something missing in lives that determine this factor. A reason to go on living would be essential in their lives. Some people are trapped.
8 months ago: First of all. It's not a drug problem its a personal responsibility problem. Responsible people may partake the drug of their choice in a safe surroundings, while irresponsible people like to drink and drive. Irresponsible parents allow their youngsters to use drugs during a period of heavy psychological development while responsible parents take what ever steps are necessary to keep their kids clean.

Second of all most drug usage is connected to an underlying psychological problem or predisposition. If the solution does not deal with these issues there is no solution.

Thirdly we need to stop lumping drugs together. Marijuana is, if not mostly harmless to the largest percentage pf people it is at least "less" harmful then drugs like heroine and so forth you simply can not expect to treat one the same was as you treat the other.
