The world was anxiously watching as Iran powered up its nuke program. Officially, it only wanted to produce nuclear power. It also wanted to wipe out Israel, as well as stir up trouble in Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries with a Shiite minority. In the old days, assassinations and air strikes were about the only way to keep rogue states in their place. Iran had put its cenrifuges and other equipment in bombproof bunkers, well protected with antaircraft guns. Now it seems that the Stuxnet virus has contaminated the computers involved in Iran's nuke program, setting the Iranians back at least two years, according to a report by the Jerusalem Post.
Somehow, someone managed to smuggle the virus into laptops and other computers used in the nuke development program. So bad was the damage that the Iranians will have to replace cenrtifuges and even a turbine at Iran's nuke development facility in Bushehr. The code in the virus, about 15,000 lines, is believed to be far too complex for a single rogue hacker. Experts are looking at a foreign government, possibly Israel or the US as possible suspects in the bloodless yet devastating attack on Iran's nuclear development facility. No one is claiming responsibility for Iran's virus problems and even in neighboring Muslim countries, there is probably a feeling of relief.
