In case you missed it last night, here's my weekly Lost recap/review for "Recon."
Lost is full of great philosophical talking points. Aren't we all just making our way through life, scamming one another? Lost's Sawyer is just an everyman. He cons people because he has to. It's in his nature, as it is in us all.
Last night's Lost, "Recon," was much better than the last few episodes. Thrills! Spills! Sexual escapades!
Nearly every Lost Recon review I've read has been positive. I agree – the flash-sideways timeline story development was decent, and it's nice to see Sawyer back in the con game. In Recon, we see yet
another mysterious pile of bodies, are introduced to a few new characters, and battle lines are drawn. It's clear that the writers are setting up for a classic forces-of-good versus forces-of-evil endgame.
If you'd like to watch Lost Recon, you can find the whole episode

Looking for a more detailed Lost Recon recap? Just keep reading. There are
spoilers below, obviously.
Strangely, Recon opened without a "Previously on Lost" recap (the first time in season 6 this has happened.) The episode was definitely James "Sawyer" Ford-centric – we get to see what life would have been like for James had he chosen to enforce the law instead of breaking it.
He and Miles work together as police detectives and they work together to hunt down con artists. There's a subplot where Sawyer meets, sleeps with, and pushes away Charlotte, and the sideways vignette ends with Kate back in handcuffs.
On the Island, Sawyer meets up with the Man in Black, "Zombie Sayid," Kate – who's probably scared half to death – and the rest of the Temple washouts. The MiB sends Sawyer off to Hydra Island in a canoe to perform "Recon," and spy on Charles Widmore's sub. How he knows that Widmore
has a sub is beyond me. Sawyer paddles out to the little island, finds a big ol' pile of corpses – the rest of the Ajira Flight 316 – and runs into "Zoe," who claims to be the last survivor. She's not, of course: Sawyer calls her silly bluff and is marched straight to Widmore. They debate the morality of mass murder and Sawyer makes a deal to sell out the MiB in exchange for a free pass back to civilization.
Finally, after Sawyer reports back to Smokey, he confides in Kate that he doesn't care about the upcoming Good versus Evil battle. He just wants to get home. All in all, Recon was a pretty good Lost episode.
