Since I have been recruiting potential evangelist from the congregation of Churches, and a church that I am now attending with the most awesome praise and worship.
When I will approach someone in the church that I think would be a good candidate to be an Evangelist and ask him or her, with a Gospel of John in my hand. Do you evangelize? They look at me and shake their heads, No, then I tell them that Jesus died a cruel death so that none should perish.
I tell them that If they know someone who is not a Christian, look at them in their eyes and say, I really want you to get to Heaven, this book is called the love book of the Bible, it's the Gospel of John. Would you read it if I gave it to you? They would most likely say yes. I call this mild evangelism.
What I have discovered is that the problem with most Christians is that they are not secure of who they are in Christ Jesus. We must not be only hearers of the Word but Doers.
Why should you be intimidated in approaching someone whose destination is the Lake of Fire? When your destination is Heaven? If you are afraid to be told to get lost, then you do not really believe that you are saved and are Heaven bound, are you?
Let me put it this way, say you have a spaceship and know of a destination that you will be able to survive comfortably, and you have information that the Earth will freeze in two days, would you be afraid to approach a friend to invite him to come with you?
You would not be afraid because you know that you have the spaceship? Right? You can touch it, well then, are you not sure that Jesus is real, and that Heaven truly exists? That is the problem?
Christians have heard so many sermons, and they have praised the Lord, even with tears. However, they are afraid to approach the lost. They are only hearers of the Word and not doers.
Few Pastors will admit this, not many of them evangelize, and for some reason many are afraid, to tell their congregation this is what we are called to do when we are off milk and know the Word.
I am not interested in saying to myself, well Lord I tried. So I will have to go back to the one on one, and I know that you will reward me generously, but the Holy Spirit is telling me, He (Jesus) died a cruel death so that NONE shall perish. Now if I truly believe that, I will not be content with not trying harder.
To increase ones' faith in crucifying the flesh or moving from being a Hearer to a Doer, is to push yourself, the way you do when you are determined to be successful in business, or as an athlete. "I will go another lap" I know I can, I know I can. Like the little engine going up a hill.
With one difference, what you do for Him who died for you, will last forever and forever. Do you get it yet?
I am accepting an invitation to go on national television "It's a New Day" to say what is on my heart. At the meantime there are some Churches that have invited me to speak on this subject; I spoke at the Trinity Church on Easter Sunday. They mean business, but I see there is still some fear in being bold.
I tried an experiment 18 month ago. I seldom go to movies. However, Junette, and I went to see a movie Wall-E, there was a long line waiting, while I was in the line-up I thought, if I spoke boldly and with confidence not waiving, pronouncing and emphasizing, could I speak to this line up.
So I stepped back about 15' and said; loud and clear "Ladies and Gentlemen, we are there to see this wonderful movie Wall-E, and we have some time on our hands, the questions is how are we going to utilize this time effectively? Let me ask you a question? Who many of you like to Cruise, and would like to know more about this subject, please put up your hands and I will give you my card? Well about 50% put their hands up. But that was not bold enough; I should have gave them a presentation of the Gospel. But I learned from Singing Ron, an evangelist from the US, we went into an ABC restaurant, and he began to sing loudly, I felt like going under the table, but to my surprise he receive an applause.
Are we going to go through live like cowards? Imagine this world is a stage and that we are actors, have a ball but be effective at the same time. The next time I will preach the Gospel, the most that could happen is that someone would throw a cup of coke at me, or I may be asked to leave, it's not likely that I will be stoned to death like Stephen, those were the true heroes for Christ.
