Are you dreading an upcoming reunion? Are you looking for a way to get out of it, but still get a little revenge and have some fun at your ex-classmates expense? Do you have far too much free time to plan such an idea?
If any of this describes you, you should follow the lead of Comedy writer Andrea Wachner, a self-proclaimed "drama geek" in High School who was dreading the idea of attending her 10 year reunion. With a little devious planning, Andrea hired a stripper and sent her to the reunion in her place.
Even more, she made a 40 minute documentary of the experience, though because of some legal issues it likely never will be seen. The documentary centered around the stripper she hired to impersonate her, Amy Bernadette "Cricket" Russell, who showed up in a slinky dress, fishnet hose and spike heels. Andrea Wachner apparently watched from a hotel room above the event, linked to her impersonator via wireless radio, TV cameras and a monitor. She also coached "Cricket" with stories about the people she was meeting, and inside jokes and info to make her more believable.
The entire episode was so ridiculous that Hollywood has come calling (insert Blues Traveler song here). Andrea has also since written a feature film script based on her story, and is trying to find a buyer for a reality TV show based on the events. She has made an appearance on CNN, and is slated to be on ABC's "Good Morning America" next week. Not bad for a prank gone very well, even if it has resulted in a slew of angry letters from ex-classmates.
I have a reunion coming up late this Spring, though I unfortunately don't have anything planned to surprise my classmates. If I do come up with anything in the meantime, I will make sure to follow Andrea's lead and get it documented, and maybe made into a reality TV series of my own . . . "and Hollywood's calling for the movie rights, saying, 'Baby, let's keep in touch.'"
