A Michigan School Superintendent stands up refuses his pay increase for the next school year as well as accepts voluntarily a pay cut as well. Granted he will still be getting a six-figure salary but, at least he took some kind of effort toward making things more about the kids.
As other small school systems have to struggle between operations as well as providing the students with the sports that keep some kids in school and making an attempt to graduate despite the increased requirements of the state school board.
I applaud the effort by this administrator who steps up and truly attempts to put the kids education first instead of filling his own pockets which in many cases for administrators have a nest egg bigger than most regular school employees I am sure.
I just hope that more administrators nationwide step up and put their 'its about the kids" where their money is. Willingly take a pay cut till at least the economy catches up and then they won't have to cut teachers who stand up daily to teach our kids with the threat of harm and job losses as a daily threat.
