In what is hopefully more than a glimpse of sanity for the American people Ron Paul won the 2012 Republican straw poll in New Orleans and won it pretty much hands down.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/06/1... Ron Paul does not have a Hollywood look. He does not talk big about fixing everything without having to raise taxes or anyone losing any entitlements. In fact when he ran for president last time he was warning us there would be trouble ahead if we did not do something to alleviate it. He was suggesting ways for America to get back on track before a collapse. And oh yea he was totally right.
But this was not what Americans wanted to hear. We did not want to hear about problems we wanted to hear pretty words like "hope" and "change". We wanted to hear words that did not involve work or sacrifice. We wanted someone who promised to go to Washington and fix everything for us and to take care of us. But it didn't happen.
I don't agree with everything that Ron Paul suggests but the majority of it does make sense. And he is one Congressman who has not been a flip flopper. He is a Doctor and has from the beginning tried to address America's problems even though it meant telling us the truth of the matter. Problem is we Americans it seems have lost the stomach for tough medicine, even if it is the only thing that will get us well.
