The liberals old tried and true method of attack and accuse with little basis is wearing thin. Though there are still multitudes of weak minded high strung far left nut jobs out there that jump every time the DNC says frog, it is a dying technique. The latest victim of this sucker punch style of politics is Rand Paul who is running for a Senate seat in Kentucky. He was recently interviewed by someone who seemed to have an agenda of entrapment in mind while interviewing him. In what seemed a single purpose goal to nail Rand Paul she asked for a yes or no answer to a question which is impossible to sum up in a yes or no answer. Even if she didn't have her own agenda the liberal media immediately twisted his refusal to be "trapped" into an emotional feeding frenzy for the far left media sharks.
Rand Paul has libertarian views on many things and I also have a strong libertarian view in many aspects. Rand simply suggested in a previous interview that he thought the government may be infringing upon freedoms by forcing privately owned businesses to segregate in the 1960's Civil Rights Act. I find this a reasonable and debatable situation. At one time in this country a business which someone paid for with their own money was considered as private as one's home. Should we allow anyone in our home at anytime and to not do so is considered prejudice? Though this may sound ridiculous it is a question of freedom. If we buy a business is it our business or is it ultimately the governments business. Rand Paul was intelligent enough to avoid the trap and at the same time show that laws often solve one problem and create a new one in the process. However because he did not take the bait this was immediately spun into ridiculous, twisted and fabricated nonsense which as usual stirred up the shallow minded liberals who know nothing of the libertarian ideology and simply react without reading the document or looking into the actual event.
Libertarians basically have a strong desire to keep Americans free. Where as Democrats or liberals it seems trip over themselves to hand our government more and more powers to rule over us. Libertarians are very careful when creating new laws and regulations which often have negative effects upon our freedoms. What Rand was looking at is the restrictions on freedom as well as what was necessary to bring civil rights to everyone. I believe he would have voted to desegregate businesses had that been the only obvious method to ensure everyone their God given rights. But what he wants as a libertarian is to examine all aspects of the situation and its impact before restricting or regulating laws are put into place.
Personally this is what I would like to see more of in Washington. Today it seems law makers have been beaten down by the political correctness whip. Today law makers are afraid to look at all the angles because they may be branded a racist or prejudice if they suggest anything other than what the far lefties deem acceptable. Hopefully this pathetic form of governing by pure emotion is becoming exhausted at last and reason can get us back on track.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel it seems. Rand Paul was attacked by the left wing media spin masters. After the initial liberal smoke bomb cleared though people for the most part realized that Rand Paul is a person of integrity and this was a vain attempt to sling mud at him. He simply wants to be cautious when creating regulation. This caution comes from a sincere desire to protect all Americans freedom. This is the type of people I would like to see in Washington. A person who does not get a thrill out of making new laws. One that will do so when necessary but will be careful and consider all aspects of its effects before signing on the dotted line.
