I have been looking for new business ideas. I sat down and categorized the different types of businesses we have in our area, and what the saturation of each is currently. The important thing in starting a new business is finding something for which there is already a demand, or already a clientele in place. This makes the start-up capital much lower, much less advertising involved, and much less "dead" time waiting for the business to take off.
After reviewing the food industry, the medical industry, the professional sector, and the service industry, I could only find one area that is sorely monopolized. The Police Departments. My research so far has indicated that there is only one police department in my town, and only one in all the neighboring towns. And they seem to be doing a booming business. I drive by the court house on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month, and the parking lots are jam packed with people flocking there to conduct their business.
I want a piece of that action. I figure I'll get one or two cruisers to start, and send them out to start writing tickets. Nothing big at first, just speeding, seat belt violations, illegal u turns, and maybe even littering. I'll have discounted ticket fines, so the people will rather get pulled over by my cars than by the old city cops. I could even have bulk discount rates for habitual offenders/customers.
I figure after awhile, I could either expand my business to include narcotics raids, immigration enforcement, and cable theft., or let the city buy me out for a nice profit. Now all I need is a good name and slogan for my police department. How about "Pay up, and stay out of the box."
