Obama’s Mardi Gras Nuclear Plan

Happy Fat Tuesday, everybody! This evening, you should head on out to the bar or a party, or just enjoy the company of friends.

Traditionally, Mardi Gras was simply a celebration for Christians – a sort of farewell to fatty foods as people entered the Lent season. (Speaking of Lent, you should try to give up an addiction for the next 40 days. It’s good for you.) People (like my co-workers!) often cook doughnuts, bake King Cake – recipe linked on the left – or simply make something that's fluffy, buttery, and sweet.

In political news today, President Obama will announce that he’s guaranteeing more than $8 billion to build two nuclear reactors in Burke, Georgia. It’s about time – the last nuclear power facility to go online was built more than 30 years ago. I may hate nuclear weapons, but I love nuclear power: it’s clean and safe. Remember, oil will stop being economically feasible sooner than we think. Let’s emulate countries like Japan and France, where nuclear power is championed as a logical way to create cheap power for everyone.

I am concerned about the news that the planned Yucca Mountain nuclear waste storage facility is no longer “on the table.” Apparently, cost overruns and security concerns have caused the Obama administration to consider other nuclear waste storage locations. Hopefully, they’ll come up with a new plan soon.

So again, Happy Mardi Gras, have fun tonight, and don’t eat and drink TOO much!

That tax breaks be given to every home and business that has it.

That will break the power that the giant corporations have on the American people.

Plus it does not pose any danger to the people.
