April 15, the dreaded day when Americans give up their hard-earned money to a large, inefficient, gluttonous government. Today, tea-parties were held to protest tax day and commemorating the Boston Tea Party. Obama, according to Reuters, will reform the tax code and IRS in two ways:

1. Obama emphasizes delivery of tax cuts

2. Says time to take on 'byzantine' U.S. tax code

Obama also discussed the economy, and attempted to campaign for his huge budget.

I think this is a good idea, fixing our tax code is a huge issue that has needing attention for years. Tax cuts alone won't do it. Nice job Obama.

... While you're at it, why don't you give some cuts to you budget!

34 months ago: I think I tend to agree here Tom. Tax cuts and any tax cut talk even is a good thing. It is always easy to increase money expenditures but the tough part is cutting back. We are in a position which to me calls for aggressive cutting back of expenditures (the pain will come sooner or later). This is the reason the Himalayan sized budget along with bailing out bad businesses just irks me. But lets see what happens since we seem to have little choice.

Don't hold me to the number but I thought I saw the administration using something like a 12 percent cut. The problem is that with all of the budgeted departments/programs that remain. There is a 19 percent in spending. Net Government spending gain 7 percent.

34 months ago: Also, many of the budget cuts aren't really budget cuts:

Scary huh?
34 months ago: Finally! Allies that understand that numbers don't lie.
All of the written/printed mumbo jumbo and hype can be disected to any view. But, unless I'm wrong the first number is not 1 it is ZERO. I love Mathematicians!
No wonder nobody can figure out what is really happening.
They all start counting with one.

We are just tired.

34 months ago: No Cypress I had not seen that info yet, thanks. I have little trouble believing it though. Maybe I think on to small of a scale but I imagine if the U.S were like my home and I came home and told the wife "Honey we are in deep financial trouble because we spent way more than we had. So to fix the problem we are going to spend twice as much as we have spent so far". I don't see it working in my house though I wish it would. How it is going to work for the country I can't really see. I know some of the "theories" but we are in new territory here where I find "theories" not very comforting.

Ya, it sounds retarted like that. But if you say, "i'm going to spend money on things that will make money and make more money then i put into it and bail us out of debt" it sounds kinda awsome

If everyone just went out and bought that one thing they really wanted we would be okay. A stimulus does nothing more than create faith. Creating jobs that we cannot afford to create doesn't make a lot of sense.
