Faux Nation’s Pride trailer review: solid A
Pros: Great viral video for Inglorious Basterds.
Cons: Scary to think about a world dominated by Nazis.
A fake trailer has been released to promote Inglorious Basterds, Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming WWII gore-fest. Titled “Stolz der Nation” or Nation’s Pride, the trailer focuses on Frederick Zoller, Germany’s premier war hero. Nation’s Pride has the feel of Nazi-era propaganda, like “Triumph of the Will” by Leni Riefenstahl.
People who have seen Inglorious Basterds have said that Nation’s Pride is a film-within-a-film, and there are scenes referring to it in the movie. Directed by Eli Roth, king of the neo-grindhouse movie, the trailer has some blood, but it’s not very scary. Unless you think about a world actually dominated by Nazism. That’s scary.
“From Reichminister Dr. Joseph Goebbels comes the remarkable true story of Frederick Zoller, Germany's most decorated war hero.
His courage was bound by duty… his legend was baptized in blood… his name will be crowned in glory.
Nation’s Pride.”
Inglorious Basterds will be released on August 21.
