My New Cell Phone!!

Okay, okay... I know you've all been on the edges of your seats ever since I posted my rant about "Do you have any questions?" and mentioned that I was going to be getting a new cell phone. I know you want to know what I got, and how I like it. Have no fear, folks, the time has come!

Last Saturday I upgraded from my Pink Motorola Razr (from like, 3 years ago) to the sleek, new Pantech Matrix.

The Matrix comes in three colors: Black with green accents, red with silver accents, and blue with silver accents. I got the blue one because blue is my favorite color, next to pink. Yes, I list this first because I'm a girl, and the prettiness of a phone is high up on my list of "Must Haves."

It is a dual slider, meaning it slides up for the number pad, but is also slides to the side, for a full QWERTY keyboard. I never thought I'd like one of those, or use a phone with one, but I LOVE it!! I'm still getting used to the thumbs only keyboard, because I'm used to typing with all my fingers :) But I'm getting the hang of it. The middle letters are harder, because I have to stop and think which thumb to use, and I still occasionally use my right thumb to get letters like F or D, but oh well. :)

It has super-simple navigation and you can customize the Options menu to your liking. I'm HUGE on customizing my phone to my needs and this was another "Must Have" for me. I like one-touch text, calendar, alarm, address book, etc and I can do that with this phone!

It has 3G High Speed Data Access, though I don't use that. It has IM, Mobile Email, and AT&T Moblie Music, but I don't use either of those. It's just cool knowing I *could* if I wanted to.

There are several different setting options for the date/time. And I can also put a little greeting of my own (in my own color choice) on the main screen. Mine says "HotMama09" on it, in case you were wondering! And yes, I have it in pink.

The battery lasts FOREVER which is important for me too. I usually charge my phone every night, but it's good to know that if for some reason I can't, I'm not going to die, stranded on the side of the Interstate because I can't make an SOS call.

The only downside, in my opinion, is that s far as the preset images and ring tones go, it's lacking. There are 5 images you can choose from (which all suck) for the main screen. Of course, I could take my own pictures and use them, or buy some online, but I'm not that invested. I'm not going to go out and intentionally take a picture just to put on my phone. That will probably change once our baby is born, but not yet.

And there are only 6 ring tones that the phone comes with. Now, I know a lot of people, every one I know actually, who go buy a new ring tone as soon as they get their phone. I have never done that. In the 8 years I've had cell phones, I have not once purchased a new ring tone for my phone. I might just have to do that with this one. Cuz the ones it comes with are really lame. Although I guess I do have it on vibrate almost 100% of the time.

Anyway! That's my RAVE on my new cell phone, the Pantech Matrix! I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!! I'm not sure if it's available with any other carrier, other than AT&T, but you never know these days!

I would recommend this phone for anyone, especially the avid texter!
