"But we have to pass the bill so that you can, eh, find out what is in it." That is exactly what she said. I thought our legislative process was designed so that our elected representatives read the bills, understood and knew what was in them, and then voted on them. We know what is in the bill, from the Louisiana Purchase to the Corn husker kickback, to deals for unions (so that their workers don't lynch them for blowing their pensions over the years) and we don't want any of it.
Ms. Pelosi's words of wisdom, and I use that term looser than a "$2.00 whore" reminded me of a song from the 90's, entitled "Lick it." The chorus depicts the process in which one must go to sexually please their lover (the song writer). The lyrics say it clear as day:
You gotta lick it
Before we kick it
You gotta get it soft and wet
So we can kick itYou gotta lick it
Before we kick it
You gotta take that extra step
So we can kick it
Now maybe if Mr. Pelosi had followed these steps, Mrs. Pelosi might understand that:
You got to READ IT
To UNDERSTAND IT
You got to tell it like it is
And we will digest itYou got to know what's in it
In both House and Senate
You got to take that extra step
Or we, the people will stick it
to you and all those who vote for this joke of a Health care Reform bill.
I bet you if somebody had said "You have to marry that person you don't know or understand in order to see if he/she is good for you." You would send them to the nut house, not vote them into office long enough to become Speaker of the House.
