Praise to the citizens of Hardin, MT who have a vacant jail and a solution to the Gitmo closure ordered by President Barack Obama. A detention facility erected in Hardin to, "bring economic development to Hardin by creating more than 100 high-paying jobs," now is hoped by residents to become the new un-charged, un-tried, suspected terrorist prison storage facility. (1) How wonderful that now no one will have to debate having the inmates transferred to his or her town, here's a town that actually wants them close by. Plus, it will be an economic windfall to the people of Hardin.

Come on, how about giving these inmates a trial and either finding them guilty or setting them free?

As for housing the convicted, why not.

I don't understand why they don't charge and try them, they would be tried in military or FISA court anyway, the burden of proof is so much lower.

49 months ago: Dry land law? Once they are on dry land they have the same rights as anyone born here for the last 'say' 200 years.
More over they actually have more rights. All they have to say is 'I am a political - whatever' for.....

Keep them offshore - over 20 miles out.

We should all go to jail for one year, as a group.

We could take turns, and then provide the raw material for prison guards, wardens, civil workers, and the like. When you get out of jail, you get to be a guard!

Seems like it would work, let's get the ball rolling!

Iran and the former USSR used to reduce the overhead by sending the families of prisoners a bill for the materials used in lead implantation therapy.
The British found that a post operative encasement in swine skin lowered the instance of "copycat crimes".
Side effects of this treatment include sharp reductions in blood pressure, pulse and respiration. Stiffness in the joints and unpleasant body odour have also been reported as disturbing side effects of this treatment.
I am simply providing this information as a public service.I am sure that deep down, some of these "freedom fighters" are nice guys.

49 months ago: Rudi, I would be inclined to like to see you actual evidence that a single person held presently at Gitmo is there for crimes committed. Do you seriously want to justify a government's authority to collect up any people it wants, hold them in prison as long as it wants, charge them maybe never if it wants, and torture them if it wants? Really? Is that the USA described in our Constitution? Is that what our founders hoped for the reputation of our 200+ year old nation?

I don't see any justification for this. If we don't practice our own values and use our own moral compass in dealing with others we erode their worth and we can hardly expect anyone else to ever take us seriously.
