I received an assignment to do a report on Microdermabrasion recently and decided to give it a shot. Initially I was not sure about this assignment as a reporter, but thought it would be interesting to experience the facial personally. Well, the results have exceeded my expectations. I always felt that I had average combination skin, but after three treatments my skin is glowing and I barely need any cosmetics. Let me explain the procedure to you in a nutshell.

Microdermabrasion facials are also called the "lunch time" treatment. It is a procedure that stimulates the new production of collagen which provides elasticity to skin. Microdermabrasion also promotes new skin cell growth. It is non-surgical and does not require any anesthetic. The entire procedure takes 35 – 45 minutes.

This skin treatment was available in Europe for many years before being approved in the US. Many women and men enjoy the benefits of having Microdermabrasion facial treatments. You will notice a dramatic improvement in the skin texture and appearance. Once the dead skin is removed the younger cells will start reproducing immediately.

If you have brown spots, acne scars, sun damaged, hyperpigmentation, aging, fine lines, wrinkles, unbalanced skin tone and dull skin then you are a great candidate for this procedure. Microdermabrasion is a jet spray with crystals minerals that remove the outer layer of the skin. The micro crystals are vacuumed by a handheld device which peels and polish the skin. There is no recovery time after the procedure is done. Many people immediately return to work with no side effects. The skin will have some redness, similar to a mild sunburn.

The procedure will diminish fine lines, wrinkles, clear the pores, and reduce the appearance of acne. You will notice an immediate improvement in the skin after just one treatment. For maximum results, it is recommended that you get at least six treatments. You will be scheduled for weekly treatments at a time that is right for you. After the six treatments, it is recommended that you return once a month to maintain your new youthful appearance. Each treatment will make the effects longer lasting.

Do not get weekly treatments if you are taking the acne drug Accutane because of the potential scarring to the skin. If you are suffering with an outbreak of herpes simplex cold sores, make sure your seek treatment first before scheduling a Microdermabrasion facial. If you are still not sure about getting treatment, simply schedule a consultation with the doctor.

After care will require that you keep the skin moist. Use sunscreen and moisturizer immediately after the procedure. Avoid sun exposure for at least 24 hours. Before you take a shower, remember your skin will be sensitive to hot water for the first day after treatment. A Microdermabrasion facial is a non-invasive way to have beautiful skin.
