Last night’s premiere of season 6 of Lost wasn’t astounding – but the Losties did get a few things confirmed. Spoilers ahoy!

First, Juliet was successful in detonating Jughead’s core – and she created an alternate timeline. The time travel in Lost (in season 6, at least) is similar to the canon in Back to the Future. By detonating the nuclear device in 1977, Juliet apparently capsized the island under the ocean. In the alternate timeline, the plane crash survivors (who don’t crash) are shown having a lot of problems, physically and emotionally.

Additionally, Jacob was confirmed as dead – by appearing to Hurley, who can see ghosts. John Locke’s doppelganger was confirmed as the Nemesis, the Man in Black, and the smoke monster. Finally, a new batch of Others helped kill/resurrect Sayid.

On Lostpedia, you can find a whole bevy of season 6 Lost theories – that the characters are in purgatory, or that the entire island exists in the Dreamtime. There are also a lot of character specific Lost theories. Season 6 began with revelations about Locke, Jacob, and Jack, and I expect there will be a lot more in the future.

If you want to discover a ton of great season 6 Lost theories, check out the links to the left. Lostpedia and DarkUFO are chock-full of information about the show, and you could spend hours perusing the writers’ Lost theories. Robbie from DarkUFO is great – he explains that Shannon wasn’t on the plane in the alternate timeline because if there’s no plane crash, there’s no beach, which means there’s no opportunity for a bikini shot.

In case you’re interested, here’s a few of my season 6 Lost theories:

- Richard, the ageless Other, was originally a member of the Black Rock’s crew. He was gifted with immortality to act as a sort of referee in the Jacob/Nemesis game.

- The alternate timeline will eventually collapse, much like the one in Donnie Darko.

- Jacob will resurrect. He will destroy the Nemesis after Jack does a final “good deed.”

Being that his last name is Shepard, I think this is very possible. This goes with my other theory that the island is metaphor for heaven and that the new life created on Earth is their real life now. They might be reborn with Jack's sacrifice. Who knows though... I just want to know why the hell Walt isn't even in the show. Wasn't he "special," what about Arron too? Claire gave him up... what were the repercussions? All I know is they better not ignore it.

Not exactly the picture of subtlety.

Those two sides are demonstrated over and over in all the characters including Jacob and the smoke beast. My theory from day 3 or 4 was that the survivors are the parents of the original inhabitants and that messing with the time line has screwed up the possibility of the original others being born. Jacob obviously wants to mess with the time line and exploit the virtues and darkness of the Island while the new Loc as he just revealed, just wants to get of the wild merry go round.
