Even though my district is undergoing numerous budget cuts I am amazed at all the technology tools available to teachers these days. Today I attended one of the most innovative teaching tool presentations. A promethean board is one cool too! I am so proud and happy that compared to other schools my brand new K-8 center comes equipped with a promethean board in each classroom. Since I had some earlier opportunities to use this tool in my classroom the professional development session was awesome. I gained numerous ideas and lesson plans and access to discussion forums that I can use this school year. Better yet I even got an app for my iphone. As I am pondering about this technology for this school year I am reminded about its use. Will teachers really use this? We always encourage our students to dive into the unknown and not give up when they hit road blocks. As a teacher my view in trying innovative technology should be the same. I realize that it is ok for me to fail in front of them and then tell them I do not know how to use this but I want to learn. As I am writing this I am reminded of quote from my mother, “failures are the pillars of success.” So if there are any teachers out there who would like to incorporate some neat teaching tools into their lessons check out the site from promethean planet. Happy teaching!
