Roman Catholics are the easiest of all denominations to lead to the Gift of Salvation. Why? Because they believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the crucifixion. However MOST have not read the Bible, and do not know the scripture. It was not until the Pentecostal movement that many translations became available.
As a matter of fact, their Bible was in Latin, and they were told that only their Priest must interpret the Word to them.
Greek was becoming a world language; the Hebrew Scriptures were translated into that tongue. The man who first translated the entire Bible into English in 1382 was Wycliffe, Religious conditions in his days were, indeed, very bad. Bishops and priest were worldly. Popes cared more material wealth that for the spiritual welfare of their people. Believers were kept in ignorance; he boldly proclaimed that everyone should read it.
One hundred years after Wycliffe's death Tyndale was born, men began to demand a Bible translated directly from the original. On October 6, 1536, he was strangled and burned as a heretic. His last words were: "Lord open the king of England eyes."
The King James or Authorized Version, which appeared in the year 1611, was prepared by the best Hebrew and Greek scholars of the day. The need for more modern versions began to assert itself. So the English Revised Version appeared in 1885, the American revised in 1901.
I make it clear to them that only Scripture that was found in Hebrew was Canonized and is the true Word of God, and that contains the Word, which is inspired by God the Holy Spirit. It is a living Word which contains the power of God for the believer.
This is also a good augment, for others like Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses.

Kelvin, on Saturday 11th June, I was walking along, and so was he, I stopped, and said hello, after connecting with him, I asked Kelvin are you a Christian? Catholic, you do believe that there is a Heven and also Hell, yes Kelvin replied. This is a very important subject. You don't mind if I ask you a few more questions do you. Knowledge is power do you agree? Yes, so tell me do you believe that Jesus was the Son of God, Yes, do you believe that He was crucified? Yes. So tell me Kelvin, do you believe that Jesus rose from the grave? I don't know.
Kelvin you have time? I am willing to tell you why God had to send His Son to die a cruel death on a cross. So I told him the Gospel, (of which I have a very condensed and true version).
After I was finished, I asked the questions again, Kelvin answered in the affirmative. I prayed with him to receive the gift of Salvation. He had a humble heart. He is Born Again.
