They’re calling him the American Susan Boyle. Mr. Kevin Skinner, from America’s Got Talent. Chicken Catcher. “A hick from Mayfield, KY.”
Call him what you like, the guy’s a star.
When Kevin Skinner, singer and guitarist, stepped out on the stage, the America’s Got Talent judges ripped him a new one. They mocked his clothes, his job (I didn’t even know that on America’s Got Talent, chicken catcher guys were allowed!), and his unpolished Mayfield, KY upbringing.
Kevin Skinner was the last audition on last night’s episode. He was dressed simply and sat on a stool with his guitar. The audience laughed at his brief interview (with the infamous “chicken catcher” line) and looked ready to boot him off.
But within a few seconds of Kevin Skinner’s rendition of “If Tomorrow Never Comes” by Garth Brooks, the tears were flowing. (You can see a Kevin Skinner video, via YouTube, to the left.)
Obviously, he moved on to the next round. Kevin might even be the eventual winner. All he needs is a better shirt.
Seriously, watch the Kevin Skinner video, and if you’re not touched, let me know in the comments. If you don’t like it, “Heartless” by Kanye is probably more your speed.
