Much more, than an average "Joe!"

The MMA is not legalized yet in New York, but that didn't stop Joseph Lozito from using a MMA leg-sweep or single leg take-down to stop alleged killer Maksim Gelman! It was Lozito's years of watching the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) that paid off and saved his life... and probably countless others in the path of terror. Gelman is suspected of killing at least 4 people and wounding others... finds himself subdued, even after stabbing and slashing Lozito.

UFC President Dana White met with MMA fan Joe Lozito on Monday, just one day after Lozito helped stop a rampage in New York City that left four people dead by subduing the suspect after a single leg takedown in a subway car.
White offered Lozito and his wife front-row seats to next month's UFC 128 event in New Jersey, while the incident boosts the UFC's campaign to legalize MMA in New York.

New York is in morning over the loss of the lives of innocent people at the hands of a killer, and it is a sad state of affairs when psychos like this are on the street. Apparently Maksim Gelman has had a criminal history, and was stalking the lady that he allegedly killed, along with a relative. Others also lost their lives in this evil rampage, and New York breathes a sigh of relief with Gelman in the cage. That cage isn't the octagon,
and more like a kennel... but it is suitable for the likes of him.

I don't know if the good-press fall-out for the UFC will be the best news NYC has had... but it is good news, in a sad while. People will never be the same since 9/11 but it is refreshing to see the good guys kick but once and a while, and it is inspiring to see some standing up to weapon wielding bullies, no matter where they are found. Joe Lozito is a name that many won't soon forget... his boys can be proud of him, and Joe is mighty thankful that he is sill around to see them grow up.

What a blast for Dana White, and good on him, to visit Joe Lozito after this ordeal. Lozito wasn't expecting any fan-fare, and is quite a humble man... saying that the police were the real heroes.... and he is right. Yet, it was good for the UFC President to honor Joe and his wife with VIP seats to the UFC. IF it wasn't for the police at the scene... this thing could have ended very differently, and Lozito knows it.

No doubt about it... this is going to be huge for UFC in New York! Until now MMA has not been given the green light, but this is going to be a big push in that direction. UFC President Dana White wants MMA to be the biggest sport world wide, in a UFC 124 comment after GSP dominated Koscheck, White said GSP was more popular than Gretzky! That could be true, with more world-wide recognition of MMA than hockey.

This is one of the biggest real-time stories about MMA, and it won't be going away anytime soon. I wouldn't doubt it if Joe Lozito get's into training and leaves his ticket selling job at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall... but it may be a little late in the day to see him go up against another 270 lb hulk or even a guy like George St. Pierre, at 100 lbs lighter. Why do I say that? Well it was just last year GSP slammed NHL veteran Georges Laraque of similar weight to the mat...

"Brains over brawn. Georges St. Pierre, one of the most cerebral fighters in all of mixed martial arts, has turned himself into one of, if not the most complete fighters in the world... So why would NHL veteran Georges Laraque call him out on the wrestling mat? We have no clue but now he knows it was a mistake."

Joe Lozito just exited the octagon of life-and-death and emerged a winner...
I don't think that he's going back to life as normal. A hero and a role-model for young lives inspired to be the "good guy" ...in a very very bad world!
I've said it before, about these great everyday-life stars,
and I'll say it again... I love this guy!

All the mock-ups aside, this is one-for-one UNDEFEATED FIGHT Joe Lozito had with a killer, that makes him this years UNDISPUTED HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF NYC!
