First off, let me just start by saying I’m not a Bollywood fan by any stretch of the imagination. The fact is I could list and probably will a huge list of things I find wrong with Bollywood movies, not least of them which is the dance beat set to lyrics in Hindi which I don’t understand. This however is not a rant! Surprisingly enough this is a rave, a rave about a Bollywood music video based on a movie I believe. I found it by sheer accident after clicking on a link posted by Alex about the 15 year old girl beating rant that Rudi wrote. By the way? Were all the people involved in the bus terminal incident, the guards, the victim, the attackers, the onlookers all black? It seemed so from the video:

But no, I believe some of the onlookers were not black. Anyway, all the people in this video are Indian and nobody was hurt in the making of this YouTube Video that I am aware of. Although by my estimation, in the beginning of the vide all but the very few that were holding on really hard should have fallen down the precipice to their deaths! OMG! Did you see the degree angle on that cliff? That is not a cliff one rolls down from. That is a cliff one bounces down from until one is impaled along the way on a branch or sharp rock!
But given the perilous place and locations (It’s a beat up old 1950’s train traveling up the side of a mountain in India, Where else would an Indian Music video take place but in India, Duh?) There still seemed to be a joyous thrill on the part of the producer to have this juxtaposition between the very obviously deadly situation that the riders found themselves and the hypnotic Hindi lyrics sung to a catchy dance beat. Motivating the riders to get up and risk life and limb to do what else, but dance. Notice also that they all have blindingly co.lorful clothing with out a trace of jungle dirt on them? How do they manage that?
Anyway, That is what I found myself becoming strangely attracted to. It was the unrealistic exercise in contrasts. The beautiful scenic backdrop being raped by the old dirty train and the Perilous train ride made to seem gay by the colorful costumes and catchy music and vibrant dancing. Remember that not knowing a drop of the language I still sat through the whole thing waiting to see what came next. Yup, I still am no fan of Bollywood flicks but I certainly will not write them off as Hollywood wanabe’s anymore. They are so much more! Good job guys and thanks!
Thank you for reading!
P.S. : Note after watching the video and reading my all too biased and not to respectful commentary on something I know squat diddly about, please go to the Video’s Bio provided by the YouTube poster and read it at length. AkramRamay777 (His YouTube moniker, silly.) has done a magnificent and apparently very thurough job of informing his viewers what it is they are watching. A sincere thanks is in order. Thanks, AkramRamay777
