Whether one subscribes to climate change or not, the weather on the planet has gone funny and why not protect the forests, employ locals, preserve watersheds, and help save the Monarchs and Wildabeasts as well?. As to reforestation I took a two year high school course that was Conservation and Heavy Equipment Operation the first year covered the conservation aspect of it. Learning how to identify plants and trees. Evasive species and non-evasive species it also covered reforestation. The second half of the course we were able to put those things skills we learned to use. We worked with the DEC(Department of Environmental Conservation) and replanted a few sections of forests. We also setup Christmas tree farms that would have just remained barren fields. The way a Christmas tree Farm works is you segment off a barren field and plant 1 year old trees in one block, 2 year old trees in the next block,3 year old trees in the next block, 4 year old trees in the following block and ect.. So each year their is continued profit to the land owner and not only a continued profit but for nature it provides habitat for animals, but it reforests fields that would have remained barren. This strategy can also be used for hardwood trees as well.

We should consider to open our mind to allow schools to instead of being more involved with textbooks but a more hands on type of learning like I was offered. I would have certainly been a A+ student instead of struggling through textbook after textbook than If I had a chance to do a full 4 years in Environmental Conservation. The last 2 years of Highschool I did exceptionally well. Are we teaching our kids the skills it takes to learn to pursue their own dream or are we limiting them? In my case I was limited.

Either way I applaud reforestation but when it comes to cap and trade scheme it is nothing about bettering nature but bettering someones pocket book.
