The Obama-Biden Plan
"Barack Obama and Joe Biden will renew America's security and standing in the world through a new era of American leadership."
http://change.gov/agenda/foreign_policy_...

Respecting our future in space technology, Obama did do something about America's "standing" in the world.

On the following website:

http://spaceflightnow.com/news/n1112/04c...

it is being reported that this year, 2011, for the first time, the Chinese Communists will launch more spacecrafts into orbit than the United States.

China joined the "space faring" community in 1970.

At first glance, one could wonder how this could happen.

First, Loral Space & Communications, LTD, sold sensitive U.S. space technology to the Chicoms back in the 1990's.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/pol...

President Clinton (another democrat and liberal) used his executive power to soften restrictions to allow the transfer of the sensitive information to the Chicoms......and guess who was a large campaign contributor to President Clinton's reelection?

Here is a quote:

"The allegations involving the aerospace companies have been potentially damaging to the Clinton administration, which made it easier for U.S. firms to export sensitive technology. The sensitivity of the charges was heightened for the White House because the chairman of Loral, Bernard Schwartz, has been a major donor to Democrats."

Obama and our space program have an interesting relationship too.

Obama has STOPPED all planetary exploration. Obama has shut down NASA's entire planetary exploration program.

Other than the current space ships on route to Pluto, Jupiter and Mars, there are "no further missions to anywhere planned."

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011...

The first person to walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong, called Obama's shutdown of the Constellation Program as "devastating" to America's space effort.

Give credit where credit is due. Obama has definitely shut down our space program and done something dramatic to America's "standing" in the world.

Maybe that is what Obama meant when he stated NASA's "foremost" mission was to improve relations with the Muslim world.

Obama needs 4 more years, then we can have Biden for 8 years and then Billiary for 8 years.

We have far better things to spend billions of dollars on other than how much moisture there is in the atmosphere of Saturn or what a rock on Mars looks like. Let China spend money on whatever they want, they have a booming economy, we don't.
5 months ago: Yea. Who needs cell phones, weather radar, etc., and effective defenses against a brutal Chinese Communist Regime who wants America destroyed?

Yea Pfct. Who wants to understand how to take better care of our planet?

Real waste of money and effort.

You're right on as usual.

5 months ago: Uh....er..... we have no way to get to the space station pfct.....and Obama is ditching the space station......

and inspiration is a good thing for children.....at least for children

5 months ago: I was under the impression that NASA was sending Astronauts up to the Space Station with the Russians.

Inspiration is a good thing. But let's be honest for just a second, how many people who want to be an Astronaut actually get to be one? By redirecting the resources towards projects that may actually allow those same children to get an education or a job or a solid future in any respect seems like a better investment than figuring out how to send a manned space mission to Mars.

Look at the what the private industry has come up with. You can (if you have enough money) go to a space hotel soon. Let Richard Branson spend his money on sending people to the far corners of the galaxy. The government's role should be to maintain communication systems and doing research at the space station (although I do think we need to be able to get ourselves up there and back).

Except for one small fact: In it's entire 54 year history, the total amount of expenditures for NASA to date -- in real dollars -- is less than what Congress approved in ONE year for the $754 billion in TARP bailouts.

That multi-hundred-billion dollar figure from 2009 alone is almost equal to the multi-hundred-billion figures that are spent each and every year for social welfare handout programs.

Of course those Republicans like to spend lots of money on big government programs without paying for them, like Star Wars and a second engine for the F-35 that the military doesn't want.
5 months ago: Didn't major in history, huh?

Star Wars caused the Soviet Union to go away. It might even save your @$$ too.

and respecting the 2nd engine, who is responsible for that? Does "GE" mean anything to you? Obama?

You're not inspired Al.
