Father Cutie, the well-known Catholic priest, has joined the Episcopal Church to be with the woman he loves. (Catholic priests can’t marry or have relationships.)

Father Cutie became famous for hosting a Telemundo talk show and infamous for breaking his vow of celibacy. Pictures of Father Cutie (pronounced “koo-tee-ay”) surfaced earlier this month giving intimate hugs to a bikini-clad woman. Father Cutie admitted a two-year relationship with the woman, but would not comment if the relationship included sex.

"I believe I can serve God outside of the Catholic Church's structure," Father Cutie said in an interview. "If love is a real feeling, why must it be held back?"

Now, Father Cutie is undergoing a process to convert so he can date and marry his unnamed sweetheart.

Will Father Cutie’s conversion spark other priests to shake off their vows of celibacy? I think it’s time to drop celibacy all together! God doesn’t care if you have a relationship – He wants us to love one another.

Celibacy is way, way overrated – the Catholic Church needs to drop these stupid, outdated traditions. Disagree? Let me know.

36 months ago: I believe that the vows taken by Catholic priests still hold value. They show one's total dedication to God and I believe strongly that the willingness to give up things, such as celibacy, is a very difficult decision. I admire those who decide to take these sacred vows, and am disappointed when those who have, can no longer take them seriously. Everyone has a right to love and be happy, including Alberto Cutie, but ordained priests took vows which they are obliged to keep!
36 months ago: Chris, im disappointed. I do like that you wrote about father cutie and i'm glad he thought out his decision rationally and chose the best path for him. ( I have been following his story) however to say "the Catholic Church needs to drop these stupid, outdated traditions." is so hippicratical. Tradtions are just that and who are you to say its wrong or overrated. There are many people who have had positive changes in there lifes by adopting strict religious beliefs and tradtions. Your engaged right. I'm sure you presented your fionce a ring when you asked her. Some think that tradtion is overrated and pointless as material things dont bring a happy marriage. However you probably choose to give her 1. I'm not saying its wrong but its a personal choice.

Cutie isn't everything. Or, anything by his own admission.
