The football gods are almost ready to unleash the next season of fantasy football upon the world where men become statistical geeks and women wish men would rake the lawn. Each season there are commercials that are all about the fantasy football leagues. But if you wait too long to get in on the ground floor you may wind up playing with those individuals who have no idea who the players are and are just hung up on the statistical data number crunching aspect in order to supposedly win their leagues.
Personally, I love the anticipation, the agony of screaming at the television and computer when a player I started hangs me out to dry fifteen plays in a row. There are often times where I sit there thinking to myself, "Why in the heck did I even pick a team this year anyway?" Others in the league are laughing at my inability to win despite having done so previously in my fantasy football career.
The trading schemes some come up with during the season offering three c-tier players for two a-tier players are ludicrous and laughable at best. And they are offended when you turn them down because they had no idea who to put at the top of their ranking list and "wish list" status for the automatic draft.
And then there is the argument for automatic drafts versus live drafts where many people sit there online or in person debating whom they should draft and rehashing previous drafts in the hopes of messing with some other drafters head distracting them in order to gain an advantage. Personally I prefer the automatic drafts since I have no desire to sit there for sixteen hours as each person takes the full five minutes allotted them to chose a player only winding up having to beg off of a trade or drafting move.
So with the honor of the game becoming closer and bigger in stature I say "god bless America" the land of the free, the home of the brave and the land where fantasy football began.
