December 29th GoDaddy became "NoDaddy or GoneDaddy" as thousands left domain register GoDaddy.com for their support of SOPA (the Stop Online Piracy Act)...
"If you missed it, GoDaddy became the outcast of the internet earlier this month by allowing itself to be the sole tech company on a list of more than 150 supporters of the controversial Stop Online Piracy Act, also known as SOPA"
http://www.inquisitr.com/173557/dump-god..."GoDaddy.com originally supported the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) -- which opponents say will hinder free speech and infringe on first amendment rights -- but quickly recanted its position when the call of a boycott circulated"
http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/12/2......really, so what's the big deal? Well, BigDaddy er GoDaddy sided with legislation that has some scared will put many law-abiding companies out of business, and threatens the very first amendment rights of free-speech guaranteed by the American constitution. Well, here in Canada we don't have to worry about any thing like free-speech... but free-access to internet... we may have a problem.
I personally left Godaddy because of it's SEX SELLS full-frontal advertising campaign, and it's shameless exploitation of women to attract business... seems it's not such a big-daddy when it comes to public opinion! Promptly put in it's place, it seems it may be too late for BoycottedDaddy to recover from the thousands leaving it's "domain" for future surfing... seems people enjoy their freedoms even more than sex !:]
Question still remains if larger fish in the internet sea "Black-Out" ...to force the public to put pressure on legislators to rescind SOPA for something less intrusive. I support lawmakers in efforts to stop online piracy... and it is the definition of "piracy" that needs a second look. Today, within minutes something can become viral and "public domain" ...just how can that be curbed with out freedoms getting stomped? I think that internet fees should in a sense allot for copyright and licensing fees and royalties.
"Will Google, Amazon, and Facebook Black Out the Net?
...When the home pages of Google.com, Amazon.com, Facebook.com, and their Internet allies simultaneously turn black with anti-censorship warnings that ask users to contact politicians about a vote in the U.S. Congress the next day on SOPA," Declan McCullagh wrote, "you'll know they're finally serious."

Some re-working needs to be done before lawmakers have us all sent back to the age of the Commodore 64; or have us all criminals, with their detention outsourced to prison camps in Libya... when they should at least attempt to keep these jobs at home !:]
