Don't Forget about the Local Elections!

In times like these when National Politics is center state, it can become quite easy to forget about the political happenings going on around you at the local level. I myself often struggle with staying informed about the far less interesting issues that engulf the state and local political scene. These boring details however can often have a more noticeable affect on our daily lives, so it is important to stay informed on the issues from top to bottom. It is also important to support the candidates who share your views and values, especially at the local level, because good candidates do not necessarily have the resources to they need to run viable campaigns.

With that in mind here is a test article for the State Representative campaign for the 4th Bristol County District located in South Eastern MA. This district consists of the towns of Norton, Rehoboth, Seekonk, and Swansea.

There are three candidates running for this seat; incumbent Steven D'Amico (D), former Seekonk Selectman Steven Howitt (R), and former Planning Board Member David Saad (R). Mr. Howitt and Mr. Saad will be facing off in a primary to be held in September.

What will make this race interesting from the onset is the that all three candidates are from the town of Seekonk. In both the primary and then the general election none of the candidates will have the "home town advantage.

So stay tuned for future updates on what will likely be an interesting race to political junkies all over the state!

Everyone should get involved with local politics. As for our governor, he's a word i cannot repeat, ugh!

Because of the real estate crisis and people without jobs, revenue is down, so after the stimulus funds run out, local services and schools will have to be down scaled, pot holes in roads will have to wait, and most government services cut back.

This will be an important election for these local communities. Remember to vote for solutions instead of just punishing people for the terrible economy.
