This is the epitome of scary. Dick Cheney was having a good day, well, at least a normal day, until he had a little trouble with his heart that for normal people would have killed them. No, Cheney like bad guys from comic books has found a new way t survive his brush with certain death.
Dick went in due to heart complications and the doctors told him that he had what is known as Congestive heart failure. To sum up what this is, it is when his heart hit a point that it was not strong enough to pump blood to other organs. It is not a complete halt, but enough to kill a person as it makes it almost impossible to get oxygen to the rest of the body.
The doctors told him that it was pretty much unfixable, but there was a way to save him. They told the former emperor, err..Vice President that they would have to ignore the weakness in his own heart by installing an LVAD device (left Ventricle Assist Device), which would pump blood into the heart, and let the heart push the rest of the blood over the mountain. This device removes most of the work of the heart.
Yes folks, that means that the face that we have come to know, and our children have come to think of as a bogey man now has no pulse. Well, it does technically beat, but I'm pretty sure that it's just for show. Cheney's body has practiced being evil and heartless that his body has done thusly.
The device is used in a manner that it can be removed and is meant to be temporary. This is because it is meant for people getting a replacement from a donor. He was to wait the on the list, simply because sacrificing a human being and taking in the still beating heart may be a little suspicious.
It is not currently known when or if Cheney will be getting a new heart, nor do I know where he falls on the list of recipients. I do know however, that if they suddenly found out that the leader of a small country in the Middle East had the same blood type and organ type, we would be going to war with them.
I kid though, I don't think Cheney really minds waiting, it makes him closer to his boyhood hero, Darth Vader. I really don't have that much against him though, I am sure that his media presence and policy ideals are nothing like him. He is probably a very nice man in person.(don't argue with that he may be watching..and you still have a heart)
