In the category of offbeat news, here's something to rave about. A Colorado-based company called CycledLife has perfected a novel new technique for a more environmentally friendly, more natural way to decompose a deceased loved one (pet or relative). Instead of cremation which releases a whole host of noxious gases into the atmosphere not the least of which are toxic mercury vapors from fillings or burying and waiting for decades of decomposition, the loved one is placed in a heated alkaline solution for several hours until they are reduced to a brown fluid and a pile of bone residue -- instead of ashes, that's what you get to keep. The fluid can be returned tom the earth to allow for an expedited reunion with the elements and complete recycling.
