I remember hearing from older people, especially my father, growing up about how those gays were all girly men. I remember them saying that lesbians were women who wish they were men.
I remember hearing some of the most ridiculous things about homosexuality that it just makes me laugh a little now.
I also remember wathing movies with my dad, and remembering all of the awesome compliments he had for superman, and after Christopher revees accident, I remember my dad being a little upset about thinking the macho-est of macho men "Super Man" confined to a wheel chair.
Thinking about Christopher revees being "super man" and the epitome of what my dad thought men should be and reading this article is just mind blowing to me.
When a new book called" Hollywood Babylon Strikes Again" by Darwin Porter was released to the public one of the many tidbits of bizarre celbrity gossip was a long lost interview with gay pron star Cal Culver AKA Casey Donovan.During this issue, Culver makes a bizarre claim that most would never think of happening.
Once again I cannot say this is true or false, nor do I think it's a good idea to spread celbrity gossip, but I wanted to spread this one just for anyone else that thinks along the same lines as my father did.
Mr culver claims to have been the other man, in a gay affair of Christopher Reeves. Yes, he makes no claim less astonishing than having taken Super Man himself to bed.
If my father were alive to hear this, he would with almost certainly kill himself
anyway in an attempt to jump through the computer monitor and punch whoever wrote that.
Culver claims to have met mr reeves during an audition for a broadway spot that they both were after in the 1970's and the relationship lasted for about 2 months.
If this is true this puts a bit of a tarnish on Reeves's image of being an honest loving family man who would stop at nothing to be faithful to his wife and family.
I normaly could not care even the slightrest bit about the celbrity section of the news paper, nor do I care what people do behind locked doors, but I do think its good to destroy idols that are falsely made.
This concept for anyone who thinks like this, or even people like me that heard this kind of logic growing up should really think about this for a moment.
Macho man, "super man" could have been for a little while, one of those girly men. For a little while, the hero of a generation had a relationship with another man.
That is the kind of thing that seems unsurprising to us now, but to my father, this would have broke his heart.
My advice for anyone who still idolizes superman and Christopher reeves, continue to admire the man, just look a little deeper, he did not have a problem with it, why should anyone else?
