A Christian group seems to be going head on against prongraphy.
The group known as XXXChurch is a new church wityh the sole mission of helping people overcome sexual immorality and specificly pornography.
More and more people are claiming to be addcted to Pornography, and no matter how much they want to stop they still end up in then end watching it.
Sources indicate that out of the total numbers of downloads from the internet, roughly 1/3 of those downloads are pornographic in nature. And that in the United states, almost %25 percent of office workers are watching porn at work. That is a lot of porn people. 40 million Americans visit porn sites atleast once a month. Some only visit for a few minuetes, some visit for multiple hours.
The problem is that not all of these visitors are single, some of them are experiencing marital troubles due to their addiction to pornography. According to "Men's Health" %70 percent of men have said that they have at least visited a porn site. And about half of them said that it is having a negative effect on them. Another study done by MSNBC claimed that most users of Pornogrphy used it in secret. As if it is a sort secret shame to them, due to the negative side effects of them becoming more and more addicted to it.
This church wants to teach these people to help them find religion and teach them to side step their desires to watch porn instead of other more healthy activities.
What is truly interesting is that the church dedicates a lot of time spcifily toward women with pornographic addictions. This is as Craig Gross, the XXXChurch founder, said,
"The problem is, most churches have male leadership, and if you want to pitch a [porn recovery event for women], they'll say, 'Our women don't struggle with that.'
The problem is, when I tell you to not think about eating chocolate, what is the first thing that makes you think of?..Right, eating chocolate. So with these campaigns about sexual abstinence and avoiding sexual immorality, would it not be logical that they could be making the problem worse, and making them lie about their pornography viewing habbits even more?
I cant claim all, but doesn't atleast some of this insecurity that druives them to porn in the first place come from that very concept that they should avoid sex at all costs? Isn't ignoring that basic human desire what forces people to go to that source for self fufilment instead of seeking a partner?
Well, it's a complicated topic, and I hope that this at least helps some people.
