250cc 2-stroke engine

After the second world war a combination of factors led to these machines being sold to the public in the 1950's. There was a waiting list of up to three years for this beast and at the time there was petrol rationing.

As it was a three wheeled motor there was no need for tax or insurance, or to pass your driving licence.

As the Germans were no longer allowed to send Messerscmids or Heinkles to invade our skies, also they were not allowed to build large combustion engines, they came up with a cunning plan. To help the German economic miracle it was decided to saw off the cockpits of Me109's and Heinkle 110's, put three wheels on it, a 250c 2-strokec engine and come and invade our roads instead.

The seating arrangement stayed the same as their planes. The Messerschmit had the bubble canopy that flipped over to allow two people to get in, one sitting behind the other. The Heinkel had a large perspect side hinged door at the frount and two people sat side by side. There was no reverse gear on this car so you had to watch how you parked the car.

So if you went out to pick up a girl and drive to a remote spot for a smooch and a grope. Tough!
