Gov. Quinn will remain in office after the misogynistic Republicant candidate announced his concession today. It's safe to say that all the women and intelligent men took a uniform breath of relief following the announcement. Now that we have a real Governor and time for him to work lets see what he brings to the table for Illinois.

Let's see, if you mix Democrat with dim then you would get Dimocrats. Get it? Lets do another. If you combined dumb and Democrats you would have....Dumbocrats!! Hmmm, if you wanted to say that they have gotten nothing real accomplished, that they were in a logjam, you could call them Damocrats, and if you really know what they have in store for all the little people they claim to support, just call them Domocrats.

We've had our unfortunate spells with liberal governors. Those are some tough times. The schools run of money, the public workers have pay freezes and layoffs, and the surplus funds turn into massive deficits.

Hopefully yours won't turn out that way.

The Dems had large majorities in both chambers of Congress with a Dem President, and they managed to fumble the ball away in just one election cycle.

It sounds like Gov. Quinn is a good and compassionate man that has some good plans to grow jobs. I wish him luck.

PS I also used to use the term Republicants and thought it very appropriate.

Does anyone know why the conservatives refuse to describe Democratic proposals or bills by the Democratic label? They always say Democrat bill. It is a framing technique they have agreed on that disassociates the party from the form of government.

Republicans do not believe in Democracy. They believe in a Constitutional Republic, which under Bush and his belief in the Unitary Executive, and the near total disregard of the Constitution (except for the 2nd & 10th) was very close to a monarchy.

As far as being a practicing democracy, how is the United States any different now that it was when Bush was in office? Oh, that's right, now it's YOUR agenda that's being shoved down the throats of the rest the country.

The figurehead isn't able to make much of a difference as long as the Congress is bought and sold by unlimited secret funds. Despite all of the so called "Reforms" that the Republicans rail against. The Insurance Companies still determine who lives and dies and the wall street hedge fund managers are still free to wreck the economy of the world like they did two years ago.

The only difference between the lack of democracy now and during Bush's term is that the Conservatives and the radical right wing Supreme Court, with two opinions (The notion that corporations are people, and that they can spend unlimited amounts to influence government) has moved the country farther from Democracy towards Corporate Fascism.

And you are wrong about the name of the party. It is and has always been the Democratic party. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_...%29

18 months ago: I stand corrected, the name of the party is the Democratic Party. It has been since the party started with the formation of the Democratic Republican Party, organized by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison in the early 1790's. After the split between the Democratic and Republican parties, the Democrats were the ones who supported the Jeffersonian principles and abhorred the liberal leanings of Hamiltion. Go figure.

But the members of the Democratic Party are called Democrats.

So, if one were to refer to a bill as a Democrat's bill, or the Democrats' bill, I suppose that would be correct.

18 months ago: Yes you are correct. The individuals who belong to the Democratic party are called Democrats so if one individual brought forth a bill you could say the bill belonged to that Democrat.

However most bills are brought to the floor by the party so just as there are Republican bills so there are Democratic bills.

It sounds stupid and the Republicans who use that term sounds like they have no understanding of the proper use of syntax and diction when they call it a Democrat bill. But almost all Republicans have agreed to this incorrect usage because they are trying to manipulate people psychologically. It grates on the ears.

So next time you hear this stupid sounding incorrect usage you should just realize that it is a juvenile attempt to manipulate people subliminally. The purpose is that they do not want people to associate the Democratic Party with all of the Democratic principles for which they are so proud.

The Democratic party stands for a government for, by, and of, the People.

The Republicans stand for the Corporatocracy, for, by, and of, the big money boys and the big corporations who buy most congressmen and who have recently bought the mid term elections.`

Yes labels do mean something. Just as using terms like Republicants and Dumbocrats may mean something to the user, that type of name calling is juvenile. So is the Republican's cynical attempt at psychological manipulation.
