Book of Acts, these Christians almost seem radical

Everywhere the first-century Christians went, they were ridiculed, opposed, persecuted, and physically assaulted for their beliefs. Some were even put to death. Yet within a period of about 30 years, this original group of 120 Christians and their converts came to be known as those who turned their world upside down.

Their world was not too different from the world in which we are living right now. In fact, in some ways it might even have been worse. They were living under the jurisdiction of the godless Roman Empire. Immorality was rampant. The religious establishment was corrupt. Idolatry, spiritism, and demon worship were openly practiced. In their time, they did not have the liberties and freedoms that we have today in our nation.

When we read through the Book of Acts, these Christians almost seem radical with their fearless preaching, their expectant prayer, and their willingness to obey. But they weren't radical. What we see in the Book of Acts is normal, New Testament Christianity. It is the standard that God has set. If we feel it is radical, then it only shows that we are living a watered-down version of it.

I am not saying that a miracle should happen every day in the life of the believer. I am not saying that each time we walk out the door, we will preach the gospel and thousands of people will be saved. But I am saying that as Christians today, we should seek to live at the same level of commitment as these first-century believers did. So how are you living? What are you doing? After all, the church is made up of individuals like you and me.

The Book of Acts is a phenomenal history of the early church. It is a trustworthy book that deals with many important issues in the Body.

"we should seek to live at the same level of commitment as these first-century believers did." Absolutely right.

We should be seen as radicals. Not radicals to the Body, but radicals to this world. Revolutionaries, if you please.

We have been assigned the task of bringing, or more accurately, perpetuating a Divine revolution on this planet. A revolution to take this planet back so the enemy has no more opportunity to steal, kill and destroy. We are to fight and stand and take back territory until that sucker lands in the Abyss.

A revolution. A revolution in thinking, a revolution in lifestyle, a revolution in love, a revolution in excellence, a revolution in forgiveness, a revolution in all the things that the devils has stolen, perverted and or destroyed. A revolution that leads to Life, not death.

The only way a revolution works is by taking a system that has proven itself to be unworkable and replacing it with one that does work.

The problem with human revolutions is that humans are inherently sinful and evil.

Sure, there is still love and good in this world, but we are dealing with what's leftover. What's left over after the fall and thousands of years of sinfulness. Thank God for His Grace.

Humankind's has been twisted and very little of the image of God remains in the masses of people on this planet. It's fallen world and even the good that is left in it, much humankind is insanely trying to stamp it out to their own doom.

Poverty, sickness, disease, greed, murder, sexual immorality, larceny, you name the sin and this fallen world system continues to feed and nurture it.

So what we get a bunch of sinful people revolting all the time and trying replace broken systems. That is never going to work for the long haul. We always end up with another screwed up system that malfunctions because it is still run by selfish, blind and sinful humans. That's why those revolutions always are perpetual and never bring lasting love or peace.

Jesus Christ is the answer. Not religion and certainly not Christianism.

Jesus is the ultimate revolutionary.

He entered time and space to bring the Kingdom of God to us. His is the only revolution of value. The only revolution that will usher in what we have all been longing for. A New Heavens and a New World filled with love, peace, dignity, and joy.

The only revolution that will last for eternity will be the one that we perpetuate in His authority, but He finishes directly.

You wonder, "Why, Lord? Why do I have to go through so many hardships and difficulties? Am I not pleasing You? I love You. Why do I have to go through these things?"

Many Christians through the ages have asked this question. In each case it was My Spirit working in them, because unless they became weak, I could not become strong in them. Unless they became broken, I could not teach them compassion; I could not give them the empathy, the outgoing concern for others they needed. I could not give them the many beautiful gifts of My Spirit that this brokenness and these hardships bring.

Through these afflictions I am teaching you to fight--not with your own strength, but with My strength through prayer and looking to Me for everything in your life.
