Zombieland Trailer Review: B+
Pros: America’s answer to Shaun of the Dead; the undead; post-apocalyptic worlds rock.
Cons: Gross-out humor, like a zombie eating a guy on the toilet; Woody Harrelson’s voice is irritating.
The Zombieland movie focuses on two men overcoming their differences to cross the great nation of the United States of America, while fighting off zombies. The Zombieland trailer is funny and appropriately violent.
Timid apocalypse-survivor Columbus (Adventureland’s Jesse Eisenberg) and angry killer Tallahassee (Harrelson) end up working together to stay alive in a world of fast, “jacked-up” zombies. On a quest to seek out the last Twinkie on earth (really?), they meet a pair of young girls and hole up in a theme park.
Some bloggers have read the final Zombieland script and say it has a surprise twist “like the Stay-Puft Man in Ghostbusters.” That’s enough to get my butt in the theater, but in case you need more convincing, here’s my breakdown of the Zombieland trailer.
0:06 I half expected to see an Umbrella Corporation satellite.
0:26 Zombie bride!
0:46 In the background: "priced to feed the whole family" poster.
0:53 AND 1:04 I guess the zombies are attracted by bells?
1:28 Why is there so much food left in the supermarket?
1:43 Snakeskin outfit!
1:55 Nice plug for Purell :)
There’s a red-band Zombieland trailer available online, too. It doesn’t add much, just some swears and a Deliverance joke. You can see it on YouTube or at one of the links on the left.
